If it ever fails for any reason short of intentionally breaking it I will replace or repair. Broken scales are replaced with a material of my choosing. Broken tips are repointed.

Which begs the question...

Would pounding it into a cinder block, (just to see what the knife is capable of), be considered intentional breakage?

I can understand your doing it, to demonstrate what the knife is capable of...not so sure it makes sense for the rest of us outside of head to head comparisons by those inclined to do such testing.

If he pounds it into a cinder block. It won't break. It'll pick up some damage, but nothing that won't sharpen out.

Chop up cinder blocks if that's what you want to do. And send it in and I'll resharpen it for you.

I'm 100% serious. Go nuts.

When I hammer through aggregate reinforced concrete block, I seldom get damage that goes above the secondary edge bevel. Those knives can be resharpened and put back to use.

You just about can't break it without using tools. If you bury the blade in something and then bend it hard to the side, that can break it. But, I will argue that you were trying to break it doing something like that.

If you jam the tip into something and bend it sideways, sometimes I can snap off the tip. But just the very tip. And I will repoint it. But if you use a tool and really hammer a knife into something deep and then put a cheater bar on the handle and bend it to the side. It will break. And you're going to have a difficult time convincing me you didn't break it on purpose.

Unless it's an SDFK, Shiv, or fireman's knife etc. And then that cheater bar is going to need to be pretty long.

I haven't actually been able to break a fireman's knife. They were actually designed as a tool to be used with cheater bars.

We should have a competition to see who can break a fireman's knife without using hydraulics etc.

Guys, a brief PSA:

Some of your fellow members are making reports to staff when multiple sales threads are posted by an individual to the CPK Sale Area on any particular day. You are only allowed one sale thread per exchange category in a 24 hour period. (This helps prevent multiple reports to staff based upon differing time zones.)

If you want to sell more than one item, then consolidate them into one thread so that we don't have to move one or more separate threads offline and force you to post them again the following day. You can either list them at the same time...or edit an existing thread to accomplish this.

Once it is reported to staff, we can't overlook it as it would then appear to be favoritism toward one or another member.

(Don't feel bad, someone even reported Nathan's posts in the maker's area yesterday but we've come up with a way to deal with that to make life easier for Jo and CPK accounting.)

Thanks for your cooperation.

(I posted this in "Random" as well to get as many eyes on it as possible, and prevent further issues.)

Many apologies for posting twice this morning. I wasn't aware of the rule. I've consolidated the two posts into one. All the best and thanks for all you do
