Did not know that. I assumed the VIP was actual paper, or something else due to how fine the fibers are. At least on my BFK with standard issue VIP, it looks nothing like canvas, its a nice almond butter color with just a whisper of fibers shining through. Looks nearly identical to the top knife in the cwilliams picture.
Speak more of this butter........ but say it slowly hahahahaha

It's confusing. It's vintage International Paper micarta. The capitalization is important. It's not paper micarta, the company that made it is International Paper. It's old and the manufacturing process was similar to Westinghouse's, so it's very hard and dense. You don't really see the same fibrous finish that you would see in unbuffed Norplex canvas micarta.
