After Sale Lounge

This Lounge is open, I have you know!

I am confidently guessing that the top 5+ participants were are all gunning for the Fatty. I like it how Nathan sneaks one of those in these sales to mess with the quickest draws.

#notNathan, but I've seen the knife in ECAM, see, for instance https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/fat-bastard-field-knife-picture-thread.2016705/post-23327618

I assume you can just ask for any of the FK3 scale options. Just ask Jo the Machinist Jo the Machinist when you finalize the order.

Wouldn't it be cool if the knife would come with Bacon Scales ? :)

Those scales are DIW which Bo had ordered as an extra from a pre-order. I am pretty sure that any BFK/SS-BFK (FK3) fits but obviously the cylinder tube fittings are longer.

The Fat-BFK preorder only came with 2 vanilla scales options to streamline the pre-order for Jo and the crew.

Thanks for clarifying - then the question remains for Jo the Machinist Jo the Machinist and Nathan the Machinist Nathan the Machinist for the Friday sales, if FK3 scales can be ordered with the FBFK.

We will give people scales options on the Friday sale

I didn't even want to do the pre-order it's a dumb knife. My thinking was we would tack them on to the end of the field knife run and just slam them together lickety split. Minimizing options simplified the process and made it workable or we couldn't have done it.

The reality is these are a lot more time consuming to produce than I had anticipated so it's not like we just have a shelf full of them, we're making them as we go. In retrospect we could have accommodated more options but I didn't realize how time-consuming it was going to be to make these. Lots of hand grinding and little adjustments and tweaks to make everything line up pretty.

I honestly wanted to be done shipping them by the end of the year and we've barely put it in it. 😐😬

thanks Nathan. Sounds like the options are the same as the fk models.

It seems like this could be your least favorite model period. Even if this is the dumbest knife you’ve made I just want one because of that very reason haha. It’s like an ugly wound or crash I just gotta stare at it…

I came here to post I just received shipping notice for my first Carothers Performance Knife. Its a BFK. So getting it soon. 😁

I also saw the post above and wanted to say, its not a dumb knife. I think of this as a knife that can be used for prying. That idea is an old idea. Dayrrl Bolke designed the Strider DB and DB-L knives for prying and cutting and they are old designs. (https://www.bladehq.com/cat--Strider-DB--946) They are early sharpened pry bars. I know you designed a pry bar with an edge in the Fireman's tool. It is designed primarily for breaching. I think the Fat Bastard is a knife first that could withstand prying. Its definately, a niche knife, like the Firemans tool.
