What’s your hourly rate?

Totally free. I do it to stay sharp and for the endorphin rush without the credit card hit. I try to help newbies or people who are in the CPK community but are working or have slow internet. I don't help people who only post in B/S/T - nothing against them, though. I'm 3 for 4 on recent proxies, and maybe 6 for 8 overall? Can't remember how many times I've done it, but I know I missed one a week or two ago and I had a very valiant attempt to proxy for a Boot Dagger when those came out that was unfortunately for naught.

If they are, it's a sad day for our community.

I'd proxy for anyone if I were going to be home...but two things give me pause. One is that I don't have a particularly fast setup here...and two, given my "staff" position, if I won, someone might suspect foul play.

(But like I told the judge, if I were gonna steal money from a drug dealer, it wouldn't be a hundred bucks. I have standards.)

Whoa I think this is pretty poor form. A last minute “proxy“ 30 minutes after the fact and the “proxee” also participated in the sale. If you don’t want what’s available, it should pass you and go to the next in line. Blues

*if it’s worked this way in the past I’ll eat my shoe but I don’t think I’ve seen it before and this sale was definitely different so there’s that also. Apologies if so!

The way I see it, you're either bidding for yourself...or you're a proxy...not both. If the item you want isn't available, you don't get to pick someone else to take your slot. (Had you announced as a proxy up front, it'd be different.)

(But, you don't get to be both in the race for yourself and another party.)

Since it's Nathan the Machinist 's subforum, I will defer adjudication to him or Jo the Machinist ...but that is how I'd rule on the matter.

I want to say I enjoy everybody on the CPK subforum a lot. I can’t compete with people with fast internet, and it’s super disappointing. Couldn’t find a proxy. There’s nothing I can do about, It is what it is. I still need to mail a couple of beers to yoko .

I believe the longstanding custom is that you cannot both have a proxy and also attempt yourself. Nathan's edit on the first page of the Sale Proxy thread formalized that as a Rule.

The way I see it, you're either bidding for yourself...or you're a proxy...not both. If the item you want isn't available, you don't get to pick someone else to take your slot. (Had you announced as a proxy up front, it'd be different.)

Just to be clear, I was asking, I am not offering. Based on an earlier comment in this thread and other comments in the proxy request thread I have seen mention of payment. I was surprised so I asked.

Spoke to Nate, he reviewed the situation and agrees that Cwilliams563 cannot pass his slot to another party, (after editing his post to change his election). Since the knives he wanted were not available, his slot will be bypassed for the next entry in line.

If CPK was in Anchorage this would have worked out (possibly) for the math I was attempting to do last night in a couple o’beers/ribeye/long week kinda haze.
Feeling a little dumb, so I figured I’d put it out here in the open…
