After years of carrying a cheep knife....

The BM 940 series are great blades. But, as you said, there are soooo many options out there... it's never ending....
 
Welcome to the blade addiction. I must say you did great on your first two knives. That inlaid seb is a beauty and I love the pm2 as well. I'd offer a suggestion but from where I'm standing it looks like you know what you're doing.

If he's tickled with a Sabenza, he'll be disappointed with an Emerson.

I'm not a big fan on the Axis lock, too many omega springs broken on my Grizzly Creek but the 940 is a very good knife.
 
If this is a one time thing, I suggest using that money to purchase some a less expensive benchmade and spyderco (like a spyderco delica and a bencmade griptillian) If money is not an issue, get one, and then the other. Either way, you have to try out both knives, they are amazing for the price!

I think the biggest difference between the 940 and PM2 are your personal ergonomics and use. 940 has a slim blade and handle, while the PM2 has a broad blade and handle.
