AG Russell Acies frame lock

Back away from the trolling, gentlemen.
Discuss the knife, not each other.

It seems near impossible for folks to discuss something on BF without ( i hate to use the word ) fanboys of one or the other to get all upset and take the thread personal as if they have something at stake other than their opinion.

Looks like a great knife to me , feature filled ! Ideas from makers who excel at making knives.

The only thing that turns me off about it is the pocket clip , otherwise it looks like another winner from A.G. Russel.

My opinion is it looks like a good knife with a lot of cool features. If they make it with a sub 3" blade I will buy one. Noone can give you first hand accounts because it hasn't been released like was already stated.

It's a good looking knife. The pivot doesn't look that small to me. It does appear that the pocket clip protrudes pretty far away from the handle though. Maybe some bending would help. I'd bead-blast the clip too. Nice to see it has tip up/down option. Steel is great. Handle could prehaps be a little more secure from the looks of it. Maybe more of a guard and/or some jimping. Looks like a nice knife, and I don't have an issue with the price -other than the fact I can't afford it. -I'd like to handle one for sure.

The way I see it ANY drop point Ti frame lock is going to get called a Sebenza clone, so I wouldn't get too hung up about it. I like this one. It seems nice and robust, and I like ZDP-189. I won't be buying one though. :)

I don't like the looks of the clip, at least from what I can tell from pix. There is something about it that just bugs me.

First, I guess it is my own fault for the way I worded the original post as far as the comparisons to the Seb go. I was actually wondering about F&F comparisons to CRK or Strider as opposed to direct comparisons to any specific knife. I don't have a problem with comparisons actually, I just don't see a whole lot of value in the "spend the extra and buy a seb" type post. Honestly, I doubt that a whole lot of people would look at this knife as an alternative to a Sebenza. I'd venture to say that most of the people that will consider buying this thing probably already have (or have had) a Sebenza.

Second of all I wasn't aware that it was not actually out yet. I just saw it in the latest AG Russell catalog and was wondering what people thought.

It looks like a pretty sweet knife knife to me. I will be very interested to see what people think once a few people get them in hand.

I already have a Spyderco titanium RIL Military on order, so I will probably hold off on this one...at least until I hear some first hand reviews anyway.

They are not available yet, I was told mine gets shipped Feb 11th, and I think I'm getting the 1st one?

You won the name contest right? Did AG get in touch with you to tell you when yours was shipping? I have mine on hold, but I was told May for delivery. :(

I like everything about the knife, except for the clip and thumbstuds. The clip just looks like it sticks off the side way too far. The thumbstuds appear to be positioned so the thinnest (and sharpest) part of the stud is the part presented to to the thumb for opening. Turn those suckers about another 1/4 turn and it looks like it would be perfect. Of course this is just based on the picture, rather than actually handling it.

I'm actually curious how it compares to a Sebenza fit and finish wise. A.G. is known for putting out some great knives for the price, so I doubt this one will be any different.

Yep I was the lucky one. :D And Neta from A.G.'s customer service told me that mine should ship around Feb. 11th, I don't know anything other than that. Sorry I can't help more!

Looking at the picture with a magnifying glass, the thumb stud looks like the same one Kershaw uses in the Blur models. And someone else mentioned a "small pivot". That too looks like Kershaw's parts, so don't fret about it being weak.

I'd really like to see some better pictures!

Full flat ground 3.5" ZDP-189 blade with a tip up/down clip,on a Ti framelock.What's not to like?

If I could change anything about this knife,it would be the thumb stud.I'm not crazy about that type, but It's definitely not a deal breaker.

That makes sense since Kershaw is doing the private label.

Kershaw + A. G. Russell = Good in my book.

I've been buying A. G. Russell knives for 15 years, and this one has jumped to the top of my list. I'll try to stop by their shop next month to see if they have the Prototype in house for a look.

Samhain73, you know you'll have to do an immediate review, don't you?:D

Right? I don't know how you could lose there. With those two companies completely dedicated to customer service, the knife should be fantastic. I think the knife itself looks not only very attractive, but very useful.

Then we will finally know about his knife. I am really looking forward to the review... hint... hint... so we can see what this knife actually is, and actually isn't.

Got the first delivery, one had a swedge, the others got returned to be finished proprerly. I have carried the first one ever since. It may be a week or so later than the 11th. I personally like the knife even though I have never carried anything larger in my pocket than a Case 4 1/4 Trapper. I have never been a clip person, and my EDC personal favorite is my Featherlite K93.
Any one is welcome to come by the store and play with the Acies in my hip pocket.
