I've always gotten excellent service from AG's when buying and love his excellent color catalogs. Just had to mention this. A few weeks ago, someone was unhappy because something they ordered was sold out and made a post here about it. This is a common problem when dealing over the internet due to items selling out before websites can be updated. Anyway, all I did was send AG an email letting him know the thread was posted here because I figured he'd like to explain. This past week, a package comes in the mail marked AG Russell, which had me puzzled as I hadn't ordered anything. Guess what? Inside was one of those really neat nail clippers from his catalog with a thank you card for letting him know about the post. This really went above and beyond so I just had to let you guys know that AG is some kind of guy!
BTW, the clippers are really excellent, and don't everybody start bombarding AG with emails now :D
Thanks AG!!!

Lifter,

Nice post.

The man has integrity, plain and simple. He's down to earth, and is an inspiration to all those that know him.

That's my position, and I'm sticking with it.

Hey Dave,
Glad to hear you got a free gift. I am the guy who posted the original
message. I ended up buying and GETTING the knives from Knife Outlet.
I just don't trust A.G. Russel because I was not satisfied with his
answer. I bought two of the French clippers from him before all this
started. I like them too.
Best to you.

I never "order" anything from AG Russell.....I live close enough to just drive there and buy :D

Seriously, I have been over there twice in the last month or so (about a 1.5 hour drive). Service is always top notch with very helpful and knowledgable staff.

Several years ago, maybe '94 I think, my mother was going through Springdale. O asked her to stop at AG Russell amd pick me up a Sting boot knife as they were getting scarce. She did and paid with a credit card. About a week later a pakage arrived with yet another Sting and a ticket. They had goofed and charged her credit card a second time and sent a second knife.

I called and the lady I spoke with was extremely apologetic and credited back the card right away. She asked me to send the knife back and she was going to mail me a check for shipping costs. As I had kown their service to always be quite good, I declined any reimbursement for shipping. I shipped the knife back, and she still sent me a gift certificate and a thank you.

The point is, ANYBODY can screw up, even AG Russell (or his staff). However, when they do I have the greatest respect and admiration for how they handle it. The accept full responsibility and do WHATEVER it takes to fix the problem. They will continue to get my business and I will continue to recommend them to anybody wanting a reputable and knowledgable dealer.

DMZ Dave,
Items do sell out. It sucks when you really want the knife.
But how do you figure that's a TRUST issue? You don't want to buy from him, fine. But don't bring his honesty into question because an item sold out faster than the website could be updated. That is not an honesty issue nor did you get screwed. You missed a good sale, it happens. But in my 25 years of knife collecting and reading, I've never heard anything that even remotely called his honesty into question.
You said what you had to say in your original thread, which IMHO wasn't really even G,B, and U worthy. I posted this thread just to say what a nice thing he did for me, he wouldn't know me if we passed on the street. I'd appreciate it if you didnt turn it into a pissing match.

Dave

Lifter Dave,
Thanks for the reply. You are right about me missing a sale and that
it was too bad. And you are right that it shouldn't be a pissing
match. That is not my intent either. I am geninuely glad for you
that he sent you a gift. I do find it ironic that I was not sent
one since I was the one who had the problem, however that aside, in
the interest in not making this a pissing contest I will write an
e-mail directly to A.G. Russell and get this resolved if nothing more
than for my sake since I am hurt by it. Don't ask me why it bothers
me - I am still not sure.

If this was not "G, B, and U" worthy I am sorry. I am new to the forum
and I don't know all the rules. Mr. Russell implied in his response
that I should have been called to which he was sorry. I believe he
is sincere. I guess what still boths me is that he implied in this
same response that I could have been put on back order when that was
never an option given by his customer service people. I will address
this directly with him. I did call his customer service line before
I wrote the thread and unfortunately for me I still am not satisfied.
That is why I didn't trust his response. It is easy to get on a
public forum and say I passed up a back order when I was never given
the option. I never called him a liar. I don't think he is. I did
however say that what he implied was not true. There is a difference.

I am sorry to have lessened your praise of him/them. They probably
deserve every bit of it. I will find out when I write him. Every one
should get a second chance - I would like that too. But please
remember I have tried to be polite and I never said he sucked or
anything else like that. That is counter productive.
