Age Group?

I'm also surprised at the ages of the people on the porch. Much younger crowd than I expected! I'm 32 but I feel 52 sometimes and other times I act 12 so I guess it all evens out.

Here's one of my Davison's. #1182 (my birth month and year)

Yeah, it kind of surprises me too. Never thought we had so many young guys on here. But I'm now depressed that I know I'm the oldest fart on this forum!!!

I see a light at the end of the tunnel, I'm running' like heck.

Come on now Stand Straight, let the young man have your knives. Just make him wait 20-30 more years :D
That'll teach the whipper snapper.
Chris

LOL. In 20 or 30 years (if here) I'd be saying "what knives? Who are you, whipper snapper?"
Each time I buy a knife I wonder if it's a wise purchase and if I'll be able to enjoy it. Rationally I say "no" to each question, and then buy it anyway.:D

47 and getting younger everyday.

My hat is off to the folks with a 1, 2, or 3 in the first number. You're in the forum with the best character and attitude. The fact you are hanging out here tells me you are leaders among your peers.

I have nothing but respect for 60+ gang. I truly value your wisdom, experience, and tenacity.

My dad's brother carried this knife in Korea. I used this knife for "bushcraft" with this knife when I was a kid. Back then we called it "going Grizzly Adams".

I'm 35 years old today. I was 35 years old yesterday too, so it's not a special occasion or anything. I'll be 36 come August. Hopefully we all live to be Jack's age, though the odds are against it. :p

Dylan Thomas from his famous poem:

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

27 here. Been reading this forum for at least a year now, but only recently started to post here. I've really gained an appreciation for traditional knives in the last year and a half or so. Been carrying knives since I was about 8 years old. My first knife was some kind of stockman pattern or perhaps a scout knife. All I remember is that it had 3 blades, and one of them might have been a cap lifter / screwdriver. It had black covers and the blades had a well aged patina on them. It had definitely been used and carried. Perhaps by either my Dad when he was a scout, or carried by my Grandfather. Never did get the backstory behind that knife. I felt so lucky when my Dad finally handed me my first knife. I had been wanting a knife for at least a year at that point. From then on I just kind of collected whatever I could get my hands on, and lost or abandoned pretty much all of them. Then about 5 years ago the knife bug hit me hard and I started to spend actual money on knives, rather than just carrying one cheap knife all the time.
