AHHH!!!! This etching will be the death of me

I've used the Etch-o-Matic starter kit for 7-8 years. Even had them make my logo stencil. Had a problem with one knife only and I think it was because I forgot to neutralize after etching. I highly recommend it.
It's a cheap solution that works.

Have you tried plain old salt water? The fact that they use that C-50 (can't find any info on it BTW) to etch stuff doesn't mean it's suitable for you....

I've had very good results with some salt water and a 5V2.5A DC transformer so something must be up....

Rody's right. All you need really is something to carry the current, and salt water is about as simple as it gets. I just dump a tablespoon or so of salt in a pretty small glass and mix with warm water. It's worked for me well on any steel I've used.
