don't wanna bash a knife but this is what happened to us...
about 15years ago, when the JK was released (at least it was the new knife on the block then), a lot of the guys in our scout troops love the look and bought it. I wasn't rich enough and therefore envied them. However on the first camp we had... over the course of a week, 3 of those JKs snapped. They were't used for prying, just hacking stuff... but imagine my surprise that a bunch of 14 year olds could break a knife blade. If I recall correctly, they snapped just a few inches after the hilt, as the blade goes into the recurve (approximately where the sweet spot would be on a khukri). Maybe it was a batch issue, considering the guys all bought their JKs from the same store (only one camping specialty store in Singapore then) and were all probably from the same production run.
But I never trusted Aitor again. And the feeling around here among the other knife buyers (the ones I know, anyway) is that we'd all rather spend a little more for a better knife, and that Aitor is for newbies who think it looks cool.
no offece meant to anyone, just my $0.02.
incidentally, after the JK episode, we all felt pretty disappointed and shifted out attention to the KA-BAR, which became the next "gotta-have" knife. *sigh* teenagers... hehehe
