Could it be with the thinner blades it makes sense for the fullers to be shallow?
I read and try to remember what most of you say. Over a period of time, if my synthesis is working, I get to say something that makes sense. Rusty once said the old ones were real thick- I forget how thick- maybe even over 1/2". (9/16"?) But he also said the newer ones were a hell of a lot easier to carry and by inference even more useful. They're fighting knives and axes- survival knives. The old ones were axes. They had to be slower.
I always wanted an HI AK Bowie. I now own three butcher's cleavers but still would like to see HI cut a straight edge on a run of AK's, making them a kitchen knife, fighting knife, and wood chopping knife. They might have to raise the angle of the handle a little so it does not slope down as much. You need room for your fingers to clear the table if it's a cleaver.
