AKI 2008 show review, PART I

Oh, Man.....all of those knivesare mazing, but that smokers knife is just too cool. That is just the tool one needs to use to cut a $50+ Cohiba Siglo VI or Montecristo A :D

I know something about that knife and the price it fetched.
You can buy one helluvlot of cuban seegars for that price.

I do love the cuban seegars, but I would enjoy having that knife even more. There are very few craftsmen like Gray Taylor on the face of the planet.

But if you can afford either, you probably don't have to make that choice:D

PS - love the wardrobe commentary.

The wardrobe part is the most -- by far -- understated part of the whole article. STeven was, by far, the best-dressed in a fairly well-dressed room. And yet, somehow, he pulls it off. Tastefull entirely and not the slightest bit gaudy or over-done at all.

I loved the format of the show because you do absolutely get to see all of the knives. None are removed from tables until they are sold and none are sold before 1:00, so from 10:00 to 1:00, you can take your time and take a good look at each knife.

Excellent review STeven.
Thanks a bunch for this!
Coop,
As per usual,fantastic pix.

Great review and great pictures, my thanks to both of you.

That SRJ piece is very, very nice, and that Hancock dagger just made me wet my panties... :D

Why is that STeven? Is he unapproachable?

Marcel

Not at all, Marcel, but I made some less than complementary comments in my last show report, and I want to have something worth saying before I approach him.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Awesome stuff STeven, thanks for taking the time to put it all in print!

Someday I'll make it down there! :)

STeven, thanks for the excellent review. Glad you stopped by and chatted this year. I appreciate the kind words about my work and The Buster award. I was really surprised to receive this honor. The smoker's knife was a challenge!!
Coop, thanks for the great pictures.
Everyone had a great show. As STeven has described there were some great knives by some fantastic knifemakers.
C Gray Taylor
