• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Alan Davis Traditional Fixed Blade Knives

Thank you, Alan. My complements on your work.

Roland, I would have guessed they were "whomped". I didn't realize the saw blades were so thick. I don't imagine it was much fun falling trees with one.

My grandpa had a misery whip saw that my dad still has hanging in his garage. I'm going to have to take it down and really look at it the next time I am there.

Is "misery whip" a brand name or the term used for this type of large 2 man crosscut saw ?

You cant go wrong with an Alan Davis knife! I have 6 folders from him! 3 that I carry and 3 that are to nice to carry!! Since I had him fix me some the way I want them I have not carried anything else. Here is to Alan and his fine knives!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

He's a really nice guy and true craftsman. He just finished up a knife I designed and I'll post more when I get it in hand but for now a couple of pics he took: Mark's flipper 001.JPGMark's flipper 017.JPG

Man, I really can't wait for this! He did a super job and is the epitome of patience.

It is a nickname that the loggers of the mid to late 1800's gave the saws in which I first came across in a book written by logger of the time about his days in a logging camp stating basically after using one all day you would see why it was called a misery whip.

I've got a beautiful Alan David

I think you have the wrong maker and the wrong forum.

This thread is about the knives of Alan DAVIS.

And this is the Traditional Forum.

Edited to add: But you are right about one thing. They ARE gorgeous.
