That, and seeing them immediately show up on eBay took me out of the process to get one.

Bots or whatever is being done, see most of them scooped up in seconds, with end users like me missing out. And, I am not supporting scalpers on eBay either.

Bots have taken over the world. I do a lot of backpacking and for the more popular trailheads in Sequoia/Kings Canyon the permits are snapped up within seconds of them becoming available. I spoke with a ranger and he said that someone was in his office talking about writing the bots to grab permits. The sad thing is that many of these Bot-reserved permits aren’t actually used and the holders of the permits never show up. This makes them available for walk up the day of entry but that is no good for me because I frequently have people flying in for the trip and we have to plan around a trip for which I can reserve permits in advance.
 
I had avoided the last couple drops but that green single clip was too good to pass on. I tried but missed on it and was pretty bummed out.
