Sadly, the first time I let it snap closed it broke out a chunk of the edge:

These have a hearty snap and a very full blade that is fit in a tidy frame. I dinged my edge a little on my first snap closed as well and I’m glad that I noticed it right away - no more snapping closed until a few sharpenings occurr in the future.

I don’t think it a flaw, I’d much prefer a full blade and me being mindful when closing it for awhile than a narrower blade where I can snap closed with abandon.

Here are some clean shots before this one goes in the pocket.

The character of the Hempwood is pretty stunning. In bright light the lighter areas of the grain have a semi-transparent, resin-like appearance. Someone else here may have a better knife vocabulary to describe the look.

I'm absolutely smitten with it and proud to have it. Thanks, Eric!
