Alcohol, what do you bring into the wild?

Gave up the booze 13 years ago, so the only alcohol that I take is in my FAK in little packaged wipes.

I hear ya buddy, 10 years here. I did enough acid, dust, weed, booze, whatever to last several lifetimes. Now I love to ride a motorcycle at dusk and feel the little ticks as I pass through a bug cloud, feel the temperature transitions as I ride through trees, smell the earth. Walking through the trees and seeing the peace and beauty of nature all around me and looking up at a crystal blue sky or a flaming orange sunset, is more than enough for me now. If I start to feel tight in the city, I can go to the country and loosen up. I do not put anyone down for drinking outdoors, freedom of choice and I sure as hell had many years of it, but its not for me now. I missed too much for too many years to go there again.

My first post. This is my kind of topic.

I'm a scotch drinker, preferably Islay whiskeys. My favorite is Laphroig, with Ardbeg as a good number two. They are rugged whiskeys and fit perfectly on a rugged trip in a rugged terrain.

Yeah, seems you and me have traveled much of the same ground and we certainly share a similar path today.

My Brother was much the same way. He quit 5 five years ago or so. The booze just took him over most of the time. We would be fishing, and he would be drunk. When I'm out with him (which is often) I don't drink. He would be more than fine with it, I just don't feel right doing it.

Sorry to go OT. :o I still love a good, cold micro brew or two with dinner in front of the camp fire.

I'm with you on the Laphroig.....nice smooth smokey taste !
I must say though that I prefer the Speyside Malts....Glen Moray springs to mind !!!!  :D

Lakeport honey lager usually.

Dark days ahead for you, I'm afraid. It looks like Lakeport has tentatively been bought by Labatt's. They just couldn't stand to see a little brewery make good, the greedy bas***ds!

As for me, Wiser's Special Old and Coke, Bailey's (without the coffee, how can you guys pollute Bailey's like that  ) and sometimes some Coors light.

Doc

I carry what ever I got for Christmas. This year it was Basil Hayden. My old standby fro straight is Knob Creek - another Beam Bourbon.

Alway found a Stout or an Ale with supper to be worth the weight, especially now that everything is in aluminum. Used to always have a flask of Brandy, but now I Carry 151 because it works in my lighter, my stove and my cup.

The ONLY alcohol other than 18yo GlenFiddich Scotch that I carry into the woods is Denatured Alcohol for my pop can stove..
