Aldo's new website

Carl, that is a good question. If it is PG, as in O1 PG, then it is precision ground. But I don't know how close the tolerances are on the "Ground Steel". Maybe Aldo or Peter can chime in about that.

By the way, Peter, good to have you on here, but you need to grow the porn-stache!

Quick question on Aldo's PG stuff. Is it A) Grinding the scale off, or B) precision grinding the metal? I am assuming (a) since it still shows .103/.113 on the stuff I'm looking at.

The site is looking good.

Thanks for the saying the site looks good. Obviously, the Baron will have me sporadically change things as we go, it is our nature as Jersey boys to be erractic and unpredicatable. The Ground Steel category is just grind the carb off. Saves a lotta makers a lotta time. Also, if you want specialty ground items to a certain thickness, we can oblige if need be. Not technically precision ground, but damn closer to what you wanted before it even reaches your door.

Well, if I could grow one I would. The genetic lottery spoiled me with a full head of hair instead. As for the grinding, like I said its to remove the carb, which will remove about 10 thousandths, so .140/.156 will end up around .135 or so once cleaned up. If you need a specific thickness, we can get as close as possible and leave it around 120 grit and you all can do your thing from there. Hope this helps.

And this is good to know. There was a guy on here a few weeks back complaining about getting steel in Canada, from a supplier, that got it from you guys, and he was complaining it was around what you state here, small.

Yea, he called us. I shipped him some new steel. Not really sure what happened there, glad we could help him out though. :D As you all get to know me, you'll find I'm kind of nuts about organization, planning, quality standards, you know, all that business crap. Dunno how that will play out here at NJ Steel Baron though, could potentially throw a wrench in the works. :P

I like the new site. I ordered some 1084 on Tuesday. I am going through it faster now that my younger son comes home on the weekends to make knives.

I just used the new website with PayPal. Boy that was easy.

I have some 1084 coming along with some S35vn

Like the new website, but have not ordered through it yet. Waiting for the option of grinding to be available in the cart. I did however order from Aldo again over the phone. Ordered 5 pieces of steel (1084, W2 and 52100), all ground to get the decarb off. Ordered middle of the day Monday, and it arrived today. Thanks for the service.

Just left the Steel Baron Headquarters. Picked up some nice 1084. Gonna have to go back soon for some O1 also. Thanks again guys.

Having an option to have any of the steel ordered on the website would be great.

If you are looking for something, give them a call. They have some awesome stuff on hand!

The Skinny W-2 will not be showing up till the end of August or beginning of October. We are having 3/16" and 1/8" rolled along with another batch of 1/4". 52100 and AEB-L in 1/8 and 3/32" along with the 1/8" 15N20 should be ready to ship by the end of July.

The web site is up and running. We are hoping that our customers will help us to finish well. My son had asked if it is possible for you to send pictures of your knives to us.

From Peter:
If you e-mail me a photo of a knife made with our steel, listing the type of steel and original width and thickness, those photos will be added for that item. So instead of a stock image of our 1084, if you made some gorgeous piece out of 1084 1/8x 1 1/2" stock, that will show up instead. I can add a few images per item, so don't be discouraged if there's a blade already featured. Just send the photos to theshop@njsteelbaron.com which is my e-mail address dealing with any specialty shipping, website, product, or processing issues and questions. Aldo has a new e-mail as well, thebaron@njsteelbaron.com, and of course the office itself, theoffice@njsteelbaron.com, for ordering and billing and the rest. Oh yea, if you send photos, I'll e-mail you a promo code for either a percentage off your next purchase or a dollar amount off, haven't decided that yet.
