The owner of SPK, Alex, is honestly one of the most egocentric people I’ve ever encountered. He’s a great knife maker, and I really like his work, but when he saw one of my threads comparing his Shark model to the Fix by OZ, he emailed me denying my warranty — I’m attaching that email.
He also runs a Discord group with a bunch of younger fans who share posts, discuss SPK knife owners, and even make memes about them. After I apologized, he reinstated the warranty on one of my Lamias, but I still think people should know about this experience and think twice before buying from his small, garage-sized company.

I can't say I'm surprised. I remember watching a YouTube video he did years ago pitching a fit over people misusing the word "tolerances". It came off as very juvenile. Reminded me of a lot of the "its a magazine, not a clip" guys in the gun community. Are you technically correct? Yes. Are you acting like a pissy child to hammer on a point nobody really cares about? Also yes. I never bought one of his knives specifically because of his attitude. They seem like nice knives, but your experience sounds right about on par with what I imagined it would be. Not something I want to deal with.

I own a large collection of different knives, and I’ve never felt like I was being watched by any other maker just for discussing blade shapes that happen to look similar. Also, I already have someone who can fix the issue with the light lock on my Lamia.

Correct me if I’m wrong but warranty’s aren’t usually conditional on public apologies or behavior.

I have no real idea how bad the comments were that the OP may have made either directly to the maker or on FB but I still don’t think that voids a warranty. Maybe if the comments posted could justify a real libel lawsuit then that might possibly cause a warranty to become void????? Seems unlikely.

Even when I’m trying to see it from the makers point of view, it’s still a really bad look from the maker.

Is this maker here on BF to give his side of the story?

Not that I ever heard of him, but now I'm not particularly interested in knowing more about him.

Imagine garage size company where he alone making Lamias, like 3-5 per month. Great knives but moron owner, basically kid. Yes he might have his group on Discord people here who will make screens for him. But i told him about, he will see this story any publicly known knives places.

Odd that he’s talking about entitlement, respect and making it generational. Punk kids these days man.. No respect for their elders. I’m a millennial (middle of that age range) myself and I just don’t get all the hate from the younger generations towards the boomers these days. The definition of youthful pride and always trying to pass the blame on others. Rant over.

His knives look good but his character ruins it for me.

I had never heard of him so I googled the brand. Opened a Reddit post from 6 months ago and the consensus is what you experienced with his attitude.

Good riddance.

I did the same thing and found the guy is, at best, wantonly unprofessional.

Thanks, OP, for the heads up about this maker.

So what you think you can just talk shit get your knife fixed and still have no consequences and still flip your collection just like that after you ran your mouth over a scratched pivot? Have some decency. What's wrong with you going on all socials looking for validation?

Here we go, one of the kids from Discord. I would let other people see this shit.

OP is a based entitled brat. grow up man. you also wanna keep calling people kids on IG or FB. Just grow up and move on. Learn how to talk to people.

To be fair, we only have your side of the story and what you copied here...so you've got to expect some blowback.

I am going to allow the opposition its say in the matter as it's only fair. That said, the only way forward is without personal, ad hominem attacks.

State the facts as you know them, or believe them to be. Allow a jury of your peers here to make up their minds on whose side holds water.

But personal abuse will not be tolerated in either direction.

That's what happens when he just shows the maker reply
Regardless of the OPs conduct/emails, this maker also showed his true colors by his tone, language and extremely unprofessional behavior. “Apologize or get fucked” from someone says all I need to know regardless of OPs actions. Even if OPs actions were horrible, the maker could’ve replied without all the emotions, immaturity, threats and language and resolved the situation professionally.

If you don’t think the maker responded inappropriately, I’m at a loss. I’ll never do any business with him, seems like an emotional hothead.
