All about Bucklites and Selector's & 110's & 112's LTs and Slims ...

E, I have a 422, 1st generation, 1990 with that camo sheath you ask about, new, no box. DM

David, so you have a orange two piece handle 422 with the orange camo sheath... That's cool... I see them on the bay some times... I don't have one yet... I need to get all my 422s in one place... I like the two piece handles better... Does yours have the 422 blade or the 112 blade??? ITE...

Here's my Dad's 422 BUCKLITE.
It has all kinda of dirt and deer fat in the Scales so sorry about that. He bought it sometime in the 90d's at an Army Navy store.
I thought I had the box that goes with it, but I can't remember where it is?

Here's it is.

E, In my post I was meaning the camo sheath. My knife looks exactly like yours in the photo only 1990. DM

E, Thanks for the photos. My wife has one like your bottom knife which she likes and carries. DM

Dave, your welcome... Did your wife 424 come with a black nylon (canvas) pouch with the velcro closure on top??? These are great little lite knives... ITE ...

I have a couple of 501s that I must have gotten dirt cheap many years back. I seem to remember a stash of them that I handed out as presents, tokens of appreciation, etc. I'm left now with a black one I keep in a pocket when traveling into places that have absurd knife laws. I also have orange one that never leaves a pair of gore-tex rain pants, carried in a cool little horizontal leather sheath permanently attached to a belt. Can't tell you how many times I've enjoyed the quick access with frozen, wet hands fishing, in the woods or a duck blind.

Is the major difference between the 424 and 510 in the chrome type finish of the 501? Are there actual differences in the steel itself? Are either of these still USA made by Buck?

Great little knives, tough as nails but light as a feather. Wish I still had a pile of them.

The 424 is the Bucklite. The 501 is the squire with nickel bolsters and wood scales, however you will find a 424 with a 501 blade in it. I don't believe there is any differences in the blade steel.

Thanks! Guess what I've got are 424s with 501 blades. According to the chart, they were made in 2000, or at least the blade was. They look like the bottom one in ITE's pic, except for the orange ones.

Maybe that's why they went cheap? Great knives regardless.
