All scratched up in the pocket

Does anyone carry the serialized Gec's. I got a serialized Northfield 66 calf roper number 3 of 25 for christmas. I was really looking forward to using that knife. However I'm not sure if I should carry the serialized 66. I have a lots of other knives to choose from.

I carry my serialized #47 Viper. Being serialized is a neutral trait for me: I don't care if a knife is, or isn't, and it's going in my pocket either way.

I started carrying it.

Good call. The consensus opinion in Traditional seems to be that the serial numbers rarely add to the value of the knife. The exception is if the number itself happens to be significant to the party in question.

I've got a couple with serial #s, both bought on the exchange forum. I don't treat them any differently than any of my other GEC knives. When purchasing new I avoid the serialized knives because they add cost with no added value to me.

To the original topic - I generally don't carry my pocket knives and keys in the same pocket, so it's not an issue for me. I have user knives that get used, carried, and sharpened. So they get blade scratches, bolster scratches, patina, whatever. I am capable of polishing them back to like new if I feel the urge.

If I have a special knife that I don't want to get messed up but still feel like carrying for some reason, I'll wrap it in a small microfiber cloth before pocketing it. Usually that would only happen if I were planning on taking some pics of it or just fondling and admiring it that day.

When I carry a "pocket jewel" like that I always have a user along too. My knives, I carry and use or don't use them as I see fit.

hmmm i have very few GECs that are serialized, some of the HMTs I bought from 2dead are serialized. A good majority of the knives I have purchased sit in their boxes or tubes, until i take them out for chicken eyeing and coon fingering. then they go back in their boxes or tubes. how ever take the 48 that I ripped apart. apparently there were only 5 made of that year, but not serialized. guess there are only four now. im slowly learning not to let my ocd affect me. that messed up 2014 bladeforums knife for example has been going in the scrubs pocket almost every morning now, or the jean's watch pocket on the weekends.
