I know the pre-orders come with a nice discount. And, I've seen reference to a 4th of July discount in previous posts. Are there any other discounts which crop up? I'm interested in a 5.0 and would like to save a few $$$.
Well I like to start by saying thanks to Guy and Josh for taking the time out of their busy day yesterday to talking to me and showing me around the shop. And a big thanks to everyone else involved at Survive Knives for creating and crafting a great knife we can count on. They put their heart and soul into each knife. If you have ever spoke to Guy or anyone at Survive you can tell how passionate they are about their product. I could tell just after talking to them for 5mins.
I was in the area so decided to drop in there. I thought they might be a bit like most other companies with people stopping by to talk to them. Boy I was wrong about that. Everyone there was really laid back and very kind. They all were so nice an open to me while I was there. Willing to talk shop and answer questions about the different types of knives and steel they use. It was really cool to see how things are done there. They were hard at work with all the knives leaded out ready to be assembled and edged. It made me feel like a kid again. It reminded me of passing by or being in a toy/candy store with my parents getting something for someone else and you can’t have anything. Everyone knows that feeling.
Guy and everyone there at Survive Knives are very down to earth people that have a goal. The goal of making a quality American made knife that you can depend on for a fair price. And fair price they are compared to other knives on the market for twice the cost. In my opinion… That being said
The GSO 10 is a PIECE OF ART and the new one will be even better from what I hear. I wanted to get one but I thought it may be a bit to big/heavy for my small hands but again I was wrong. I spend about 4 mouths a year in Costa Rica. We go through good brand name machetes quick down there. Most just don’t hold up to everyday use in that kind of environment. I don’t want to mention any name because the companies we have used have been very kind to us over the years with their products. After being able to hold and handle one myself I will be taking one or three of these with me on my next trip back down there. The GSO 10 feels very light in the hand and fits like a glove. The balanced on the 10 is great and if you have a machete or use a machete I think this would be a perfect replacement in my opinion. I know I will be replacing mine with a GSO 10 as soon as I can get my hands on one. (( removed violation ))
My GSO 7/7 just arrived in the mail yesterday and once again I am impressed with this chunk of steel.
This is a great size for a camp/woods knife, a bit too big for strolling about town though.
Since I got my 5.1 a few months ago I am really starting to like 3v steel.
It stays very sharp and it is not too hard to maintain the edge.
