So the Bent axe I got is being replaced by the supplier. They mailed me the replacement today and said they would hand pick and inspect it first Wheeeeee !

There is a ring lock, called a vibrolock. You basically twist it where the metal is block the handle opening. It's basically a twisty metal collar....hope that makes sense

Yup makes sense, I was thinking it was something like that. Thank you !

This came in yesterday. Opinel Garden knife. On the bottom is a #8.

Wife filed a complaint with the Dept of Human Rights today. She talked to a few lawyers, that said there wasn't anything they could do. That's not what the Dept of Human Rights thinks. They think she has a good case.

Here is my haul today, well i got all these today except the condor i got Tuesday.

Thanks for the RTAK2 Ray! Its a great knife.

The RTAK2 is the "good" one if compared to the video with the 2 different ones, the blade does hit the table when sitting and such but its still not 1/4" thick, it looks more 3/16th thick than .25" and i dont see where it says 1/4" anywhere for sale?

this is what i see here;

Blade Edge: Plain
Blade Length (inches): 10.5
Blade Material: 5160 Carbon Steel
Blade Thickness (inches): 0.2
Handle Material: Micarta
Knife Closed Length (inches): 4.09
Knife Open Length (inches): 17
Knife Weight (ounces): 22.5
Country of Origin: USA

But either way it is pretty awesome!

The Kabar bowie is sweet, fast in the hand for a heavy bowie... maybe because i was swinging the rtak2 around first :D

The condor is meh... but the sheath is awesome.

The Ulu is way thicker and heavier than i imagined. it weighs like a pound and is thicker than crap. I like the sheath locking design too. If it was designed for cutting wood id actually like this thing a lot. The handle is more comfortable than thought it be too. But being designed for flesh and bone... it will prolly get used as a kitchen cleaver for cutting ribs or something.

that heavy bowie is such a nice looking knife...last year mom was visiting for a couple of weeks and one day asks me to give her a knife so she could trim branches in the backyard while I was away at work. I gave her my heavy bowie and she fell sooo in love with it that I gifted it to her to take back home. My sister told me that the knife is a regular user :D

Nice haul man!

How does those opinels lock? or they dont lock?

Does the "ring" turn to open and close a spot for the blade or slip over or something???

Yeah the collar twists to lock the blade. Also locks them in the closed position. I think the 5 and smaller don't have locks though. I read somewhere that the small ones don't lock.

YES, another Opinel addict among #BHs. That 12 is a beast, got one too. Massively good slicer for BBQs, trust me. I still need the folding saw though, but I'm still in doubt.
Great stuff. You'll definitely love that 8. Put a few drops of some mineral oil or a natural oil in the pivot and let it soak up. That should prevent the blade from becoming too hard to open when you get it wet.

Yeah. Might grab a 9 and a 10 for the heck of it. The 8 is nice but I think I'll like the slightly bigger 9 more.

Now i feel left out.

Will have to remedy this one. Luckily thats a cheap remedy

It can be. Unless you go nuts and order a bunch at the same time.

Nice. I like my Rodan but it ain't nothing compared to my BK10 or my Ontario SP46. But I like it enough to hang onto it. Makes a good knife to keep in the truck.

I got it from Ray who i think said he got it the beginning of this year.

When you set yours flat does it balance on the handle like in the video?

WW. Glad you like it.

Yup man I love it!

I think i might shape the scales down a little bit or maybe have some custom ones made a little thinner as my hands are not like some of you giants :D But i can still get a real good purchase on it.

It looks bigger in person too :)

Thanks again!

Yeah the blade doesn't touch the table. It's an early one. Makes for a nice short machete clearing trails and such but the balance like it is, it's not any better at chopping than my BK9. And the thing dwarfs the BK9. I've seen new ones for $85, I might order one.

If you do get the newer one you should put it head to head chopping and slicing and see what difference you notice. Id be interested in the results.
