I disagree. If I can have everything I want, then I'll be out there fishing, playing MMO, and practicing bushcraft. While doing all that, I'll have my "Jill" cooking me meals. How can anyone die of boredom? LOL

Well my guy Justin Tapped. David hit the jackpot on crabs, thats cool. Nicole still doing well, shes awesome. Has Jose had anything to eat yet, guess hes counting on his canoe. Gotta Love Larry, hes quite a character.
 
I thought that Larry Roberts was using a LTW Genesis, but in last nights "The Madness" he's def. using a folder to stir up the cook pot.

Where'd that come from - it's not on his gear list ??????????

Luck of the draw has so much to do with this show. Nicole has the jackpot. She can actually let fish go! What a great area.
 
iraq is a 6 month hitch. the pacific WW2 was 4 years, no breaks. Weak, weak, weak, minds these days.
 
so how would they ever know the circumstances, or even that you'd shot a bear, hmm? Gonna film yourself cheating? :-)
 
i'm speaking as someone who has neither been to war, nor spent months alone in the wilds of the pcnw, but i think a key difference is companionship. even during the horrors of war, you have brothers/sisters to rely on and share the experience with.

there's a reason why the cruelest punishment we can hand down to prisoners is solitary confinement.

I said a slingbow, not a wooden bow. They have the option of a slingshot, so just modify it to shoot arrows some of the time. The fact that fools don't know to build a tree platform, bait in the bears and arrow them from the safety of the platform does not mean that the concept/tools are inadequate or foolish. it just means that they are inept.

apparently you dont know jack about slingbows. Chief AJ has taken a moose and a grizzly with one. Google for him, and also for the slingshotChannel. Joseph draws slingshots that you probably can't even pick up. Furthermore, not all bears are 1000 lb monsters, as you know nothings always assume will be the case. You want a 100-200 lb black bear cub, so that you can process the meat before it spoils. You don't have to shoot everything that you see, ya know. You sound like some fool from the city.

If you have been catching up on this thread you will notice a civil tone that has been why folks are enjoying the thread.
Just catching up on post I noticed your's.
Please try to keep it civil, the rest of the internet is full of posturing and insults. They are not really welcome here. Nobody is required to prove they are Rambo or that others are not.

What a pleasant fellow you are proving to be...
No I did not know about fancy slingshots.
But this city fool does know that he can own a double barrel 12 gauge with 12 inch barrels in Canada, because he does. :)
I like guns and knives, not slingshots.

But the people on Alone are doing fine without guns, bows or slingshots.
 
survival is about staying fed. you take what you can, when you can. it's not about sport-trophies. the fact that you "think" it IS is quite revealing.

I very much doubt that most here could survive living in a mini-van, for a month, in Downtown Vancouver, during the winter, with plenty of money, but a requirement that they stay in the van.
