I've said it before, I'll say it again. If I was working for Spyderco's publicity deparment, I'd be standing on the eastern seaboard, hucking wads of cash labeled, "Please deliver to Barefoot Simona, Prague."

That woman has done more free publicity for that company . . . . .

simona, i have already one persian, and love it..but your pics make me want another..

Hi CSSD-SIA,

Awesome pictures! The knife is a strangely beautiful pattern. Ed's eye for design is unparalleled and SIA's artwork- absolutely gallery worthy. Thanks from all of us here at Spyderco.

Nice pics and wallpaper Simona!

Could you post a pic about the Persian in closed position?

Ed,

Your design of the Persian for Spydeco, and their execution of that design is superb to say the least.

I did not think I would carry another folding knife regularly after the Chinook 11 arrived a few months back. When I arrived in Ohio for training 3 weeks ago with the Chinook in tow, it was replaced for the remainder of the weekend and has become my RFP EDC.

It's not as fast at deployment [ yet ]and doesn't pop as I'm accustomed to with the knives I carry for possible defensive needs but I just can't bring myself to take it out of my pocket and carry that C11 again as much as I want to.

Just the other morning, I put the Persian back in the drawer and grabbed the Chinook11 for work that day after carrying it since I was handed the knife in Ohio.

I sat and had a cup of coffee and read the paper at the kitchen table for 30 minutes. Before I left, I went back upstairs and put the C11 away and grabbed the Persian again.

I like tip down when I can get it, I like g-10 [ something with some grip to it ]when I can get it, a lockback is mandatory at this time.

Though it does not fit my optimal criteria for a defensive edc, the Persian is nestled into the RFP as I write this. I have not been without it daily since taking delivery.

I think the micarta is too slippery for manual dexterity with good speed of deployment, I really like the bolsters on the knife, and if it were made tip down I'd like it even more.

Good thing the Persian doesn't have all those features though, I may never have had to buy another Spyderco ever again, between it and the C11.

Ed: Sal and the spyder family: I appreciate your efforts to bring this production version to the table for all of us to be able to carry, use and enjoy.

This knife rides without notice in my dockers, 511's and dungs. I may have to do a review/test on my website if I can get another one at a decent price, I'm not testing mine [ officially ], for now.

Thanks again, BTW Ed, would you be able to make one in tip down with g-10 or something similair? I'd be interested in talking if thats possible. Thats how much I like this knife overall.

This is good, very good indeed folks.

I appreciate your feed back and kind comments. A design can come to market many different ways. Sal and Spyderco made some serious commitment to this piece by having it made by IMO one of if not the best cutlery subcontractor on earth. They used quality materials in its construction. It did not bare the burden of an expensive advertising campaign. Although Joyce knows everybody in the world and they all like her. Sal brought you a high quality piece at a good value. But then again that is why we buy Spydercos: value, performance, and integrity, not many knife companys come close to that mix in thier products...Take Care...Ed

Hi Simona. Great art!

Hi Ed, Thanx for the kind words. I'll see you next week. When do you arrive?

Hi Brownie. Thanx for the input, kind words and suggestions.

As far as the Persian production is concerned, we are currently at capacity with this model.

It will no doubt take a number of months to catch up with demand. I guess we can look at possible variations at that time.

nice pictures - and a nice water pipe too.

btw, guys, this is a water pipe. it is not capable of smoking anything else than regular turkish tobacco. trust me on this one. they dont work for what you are implying ;)

Simona,

Outstanding composition on the last image above. I have a new background for my computer. Thank you.

It is a pleasure to jump onto the web and see your latest creations. You truly do the knives justice.

Chris

Hi Brownie,
I appreciate your interest in a tip down carry. I'm learning to appreciate that choice in carry. Unfortunately as a full time farmer-knifemaker-designer-mosaic steel maker I can't make any commitments. Although when the urge arises I just have to build a knife. I have 5-6 templeted designs I've yet to make into working knives. I'm hoping that my son can get our website together soon and offer pieces that we spontaneously build. (My son Martin is a very talented flintknapper and artist in glass and pen and ink drawing.)

Hi Sal,
Martin, Silvia, and I should be arriving Thursday night at the VRI. Martin is demonstrating Saturday, I'll cut Sunday. Are Eric and Joyce coming with you?...Ed

Thanks for the some of the best pics I've seen of a knife that I've been contemplating for a while.

I've a C2 on the way - it's my birthday and I should have it wrapped up for me any day now. (I've got to remember to drop my hints sooner...)

Now I just need to think of a reason to nudge someone into buying a Persian for me.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the reply. If you get a website hooked up please let us know here on the forums.

The Persian is nestled into the waistband today, replaced [ in position only ] by the folding kerambit for the RFP. I went to put it into the drawer when I grabbed the Journeyman this morning but can't bring myself to be without your design on my person.

Hi Ed. Joyce is going to the NRA show. Peter, Eric, Barry and I will be coming in on Wednesday, VRI as well. Thursday is a business meeting day.

Maybe we can connect Thursday evening.
