but i digress, i suggest you go back, tell that guy what you want to look at, and buy what you think is best. dont let him tell you what is best.

btw normark, i like the rubber boot, camo, and 9 inch blade look!:D

and i have known some cops here (im a cop here, too) that seem to have missed the letter of the law/spirit of the law lecture in the academy.

some guys are 'stats' driven, ie they arrest whenever they can. i dont happen to be that way, but departments need all kinds of officers.
 
Ok, I think we're missing a very important criteria, that it must fit into the average college girl style jeans discreetly-ish. I wear dickies Canvas pants and the delica is pretty large within them. I just grabbed my girlfriend to test this theory out. She put on her tightest pants and sat down with an Endura clipped to the inside of them. Not only could you see the knife's outline in her pants, you could also see she has no more pocket room and was very uncomfortable. So, ajri could you do us a favor and take a measurement inside the pocket of your favorite jeans and let us know how deep they are...There's no point in reccomending a Delica/endura wave if you aren't going to carry it because it takes up all of your pocket and hurts to sit down with. We need to rethink this Delica wave idea y'all.

P.S. I pick the Native, especially for your size requirement (no I do not mean girls can only have little knives)
 
A Spyderco Delica or even a Native would be a good choice for your purposes. I have not yet tried the "wave" feature but i think its a great idea and every one i talk to loves it.:thumbup:

As far as a knife not being useful for self defense, mace would be my first choice. make sure it is a decent quality pepper spray, not one of those cheapie key chain modles that only spray a few inches.

However for defense in an enclosed space or from someone who may already grabbed you, its hard to beat a good knife. I have been able to back off an aggresor on more than one occasion by simply producing a knife and some confidence.;)

Rules For A Knife Fight.

1. Avoid a knife fight at all costs
2. Have a knife ( If Rule 1 Fails)
3. Know how to use the knife you have

everything else is scemantics.

We were going to a knife show in Toronto a couple years ago at 2am...
I says to my buddy..
Was that a Deer ??

Yaa I think so he says....

So we back up down a 4 lane main highway, get out,, still warm, we flip it in the back of the truck..

Next service center we go inro the store,, buy a bunch of water,, and I says to the clerk,, my kid that Puked in the back seat,, got any napkins ?

He hands me a stack..
We leave,, go down the road and pull over...Pull the derr out of the back and start field dressing it on the side of the highway...

About 5 minutes into it an OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) cruiser pulls up..
Lady cop gets out..
Cop:Whatcha Doing Boys ?

Us;Just gutting a deer we found..
Cop :Ok,,thats the third one this morning thats been hit...

Cop:Ummm... Whatcha doing with All the Knives
(knife roll laid out on the side of the road)

Us:Ummm, Going to a knife show in Toronto

Cop:Ohh OK, those are some pretty big knives
Us: Yaa He's the Knife Maker,, I'm the Sheath Maker

She holds the flashlight for us...

Keep in Mind we are Exhibitors...

I say to my buddy.. Jeff,, Holy $hit,, look at your pants..
Just covered in blood. He has a habit of wiping his hands on his pants...

Well,, one day show,, no change of clothes,,and we are now running late.

We get to the show,, at a Motel..Unload all of our crap, and Jeff says..
"We'd Better clean those Knives,, I gotta sell them you know! "

LMAO...

So we are in the basement lobby washroom,, washing the blood and fat off of these knives...

A Hotel parton walks in.. Takes one look at us,,and what we are doing and promptly leaves.. We start laughing...

So the entire day we are standing at ourt booth,, Jeff's pants Covered in blood and people asking.."What the Hell happened to you? "

We ended up selling one of the knives blood still on it and all....

Personally I think it was a Strong selling point for the Knife... LMAO

not unlike the old adage:

I would like her to answer the following questions:
Is it acceptable for the knife to take up your whole pocket?
Is belt carry an option? (we can get some great options here i'm sure, OST (normark's store) makes some pretty creative ways to carry a knife for rapid deployment...

Ajri, I gave my girlfreind a Kershaw Onion to carry. I wanted to get her a Scallion but she didnt want anything bigger. She goes to SF state. If you want to visit a cool shop in the Bay Area visit Tad Gear in SF, just south of the baseball stadium. Their knives maybe out of your price range but they have some cool toys to look at.

Thank you for bringing this up as it is an issue, I have 5 inches of clearance max in the pockets of my jeans and even that would be pushing it. What I have done in the past if my jeans were really tight is actually clipped my knife inside the waistband at my hipbone so my knife was riding between my jeans and underwear. Sorry if this is to much info for the guys. So size, and width, is an issue, in this case smaller is preferred:rolleyes:

im thinking something with titanium slabs as opposed to g10, usually a bit slimmer.

and tadgear in sf would be a great place for you to visit.
