Alright people I joined to ask this question, Help a girl out

I have carried a Delica clipped inside, shorts, sweats and even a bathing suit. it is great size for this kind of carry. and it can often be obtained for under
50$. check ebay.

PS I usually prefer plain edge for most knives but i am willing to spend the time and effort to regularly sharpen my knives. serrated or partially serrated are great options for those who want a more maintenance free edge.

I've seen a lot of suggestions on the part of the Spyderco, but I'll throw a new one at ya: Benchmade 530 http://www.benchmade.com/products/product_detail.aspx?model=530

A great knife from a great company. Very slim/light/compact, great blade shape, is 3 1/4'' long, and easy to open with either hand. I believe the locking system is superior to that of Spyderco's. I don't mean that as a slight to Spyderco, I'm a big fan of both companies and carry both their knives. I don't know about the legality of it, but the push blade would be the best in self defence though. Easy to draw, and DEVASTATING to your attacker. You can find both Spyderco and Benchmade knives on Ebay for MUCH less than retail too! Another good Benchmade would be the model 705. Can be found on Ebay for less than $100. Not as compact as my first suggestion however.

Sigh...Eric, let's scale it back a bit however, if you want to send me a custom fit speed dialer and mercharness for free I'll send you all the pics you want of me...

What about a SS Native, I think FRN (Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon is used on the Native I) would not feel so great on bare skin.
Also, have you ever thought of belt carry (like wearing a belt with a slim sheath on it) vertically (very hard to notice until you're right on top of the person). If you are willing to try belt carry the ability to carry expands exponentially. I hope you're getting some worthwhile information from this post...

of course benchmade is a good choice, better steel and probably better overall craftsmanship.
and lots of choices.

i suggest trying them all and seeing what fits/works best.

i cant believe this has gone on for three pages. one girl shows up and we lose our minds and ignore every other thread here!!!:D :D :D ;)

i think one thing is clear........

ajri has gotten way more info than she originally thought possible.

I second the 530 for an easier to deploy knife than a spyderco (I know eric is hopping up and down screaming SPEED DIALER!!!) without practice. Benchmade thumbstuds are easily flickable and the axis locks are easily closed with one hand. It is 4.17 lengthwise, I have no experience with GTX830 so I can't say anything about that. Also, getting a knife out in a hurry from between pants and bare skin while panicking sounds like a good way to cut yourself very badly, the more feedback you give us on what you like or don't like the more we can help you.

I'm actually in it because it answers some questions my girlfriend has and I actually feel like I can contribute (I'm evolving out of my noobie skin). And I'm up late.

cheers

good, then i will continue with the plan of helping TWO girls. :D

Lol this is actually pretty cool considering i'm to exhausted from running to go out tonight. At the least I have something to read. (and like 10 different knife brand web pages open). Belt carry probably wont happen for me but definetely considering the Native. Oh and the benchmade that was recommended is also pretty cool. Though I do need to go to a store and see if i can actually sit with one of these in my pocket (damn tight girl clothes).

P.S trust me I know the whole bit about why mace is better and how you should never be in a situation where pulling a knife is neccesary. I'll be careful and carry mace. But hey I'd rather have it and not need it then the alternative and plus I want a new knife and I can afford it right now so why not ;)

When it comes to anymore recs think under 4 inches when closed if thats possible. Oh and by the way Thank You for the info, seriously this forum is awesome, and busy, don't you people sleep =).

damn tight girl clothes?! thats how boys like em.

again i digress, as a police officer i would never recommend to anyone, boy or girl, that they carry a knife for self defense purposes, unless they practice/train, and are prepared to use it against someone. the second being the most difficult. it is not easy, nor should it be, to use a weapon against another. granted if 'another' is trying to hurt me or my friends/family.......STAND BY!

pepper spray/mace is a great choice. but so is redundancy, that is more than one option, carried in more than one place.

no doze, bud light, and clark bars.

yes, wave next to skin or underwear=stitches and need new underwear.

Actually, I was thinking more tip up carry (as the wave opens the blade opens as well while moving upwards). Even without the wave, tip up carry would be darned bold, the jimping (the ridges on the non-sharp side of the blade, near the handle) on the Spydercos alone would cause some scratches...

Hey Guys...

Sleep ???

Ohh ya,, better do that sometime..3am.. Ohh No!! Tomorrow morning is now
f-ed!!

Phil..
Understood....

yup, i usually prefer tip down. i nearly sliced my thumb off once with a strider sng when i reached down without looking and it had partially opened through gravity alone.

aha, another thing to think about ajri!! tip up or tip down BLADE.

SUREFIRE no question, but which one? so many. e series, definitely. i have a e1e, single cell, dont get much brighter in a package that small.

this may push her over the edge.

When it comes to blade up or down I confess my ignorance. I haven't had enough experience to have a preference.

And guys common in order to stay up late their should be gallons of Diet Pepsi, a history paper of hell looming over your head, oh and wayyy to many pages of pretty knives open on your monitor. That being said I'm kickboxing at 9am so I think this is it for me tonght. Sweet dreams thanks for the help.
