Alternatives to "Beer Scout Knife?"

Here it is.

Beer [BLANK] Knife

Yep, folks, it’s the beer blank knife, as in fill in the blank. With it GEC offers custom engraving service for you to fill in the blank. Ostensibly to engrave your name, but GEC noticed that, wow, 1000’s of people are named Scout! Or life (Beer Life Knife has a ring to it)

Of course it gives the opportunity to try out some other ideas too.

so there it is, the beer blank knife

"BS Knife"

On a serious note...why not just etch "GEC" in the shield and just say it is a #15 with a cap lifter...

I came close in '16 in getting a BSK....I'm now kicking myself for not pulling the trigger.....

Did you all know about this?

I don’t care for the acrylic or the co-branding, but GEC better move soon, or Case will own this niche!
Good for them, for whatever that is worth...kitch only gets you so far. Gotta give it to Case though, the do a pretty good job of cashing in on kitch and still making a good user product. GEC seems to be trying to compete in the knife glam market with their beer and sausage, so maybe we will see a battle Royal for the kitch knife of the year awards ceremony! LOLOL

Case made 4 or 5 different mini trappers with the caplifter. They never caught on and all are now discontinued.
I didn’t realize the case mini trappers with caplifter were discontinued! One of my favorite EDC knives. Perfect for slipping into your pocket on the way to a picnic. Handles slicing and opening duties well. One of the few times I prefer stainless too. Mine is classic Case yellow.

For fun here is an Esnyx Beerlow in Buffalo Horn.

I didn’t realize that the mini tappers were discontinued either....just found and snagged an Amber Bone model.

I’d be down with a “Beerlow” taking the BeerScout’s place. Maybe a foamy mug stamp on the bolster. :p

All this fuss over a beer opener is a sure sign that this place is populated with fogeys. My boy, now 43, quit using an opener 25 or 30 years ago. All the cool kids now use a bic. As a fogey myself, I’m always like to rip the bottom out of my lighter with the cap. I’d sooner try to program my remote.

Bartenders in Jamaica use a can of peaches. Victorinox really ought to offer a Millennials’ version of the Electrician with a can opener because nobody is opening cans with their teeth yet.

Come to think of it, I didn’t need a bottle opener at that age either, when my teeth were young and strong. If I tried that today, I’d be a candidate for Jackass.

I should add that I’ve had a SAK Bantam in my pocket nearly every day this summer and it’s a great Beer Scout alternative. It’s a classic Vic slipjoint with their nice thin steel, incredibly lightweight, perfect 3 3/8” closed size and just like the Beer Scout, it has the only two tools you really need.

Love my Vic's and I have a modded Compact. Kept the cap lifter tool, of course.:D Note the full sized scissors. My Pioneer X also gets lots of pocket time.

Mike over at collectorknives currently has an early reserve open for the lionsteel jack. That should make for a great BS alternative. I have one reserved with the corkscrew, should make for a great picnic scout knive.

The Beer Scout Knife appears to be one of GECs great classics. I believe we all have some kind of an understanding that the Boy Scouts of America (now "Scouting BSA" in many instances)...persuaded GEC to stop making the Beer Scout Knife.

I wonder if GEC has considered producing a sheepfoot + cap opener on the #15 frame (maybe without an EO notch, so it'd be a different knife) and use a different shield, albeit one with engraved words, so as to still be a branch-off of their "Scout" knife on the #15 frame. I'm not affiliated with GEC in any way, but I've wondered this. Perhaps this thread could serve as a place for members to post ideas...in the unlikely event that anyone from GEC might happen to stumble across this thread...and read it...and get an idea they could freely use without anyone trying to "persuade" them otherwise. ;)

I have a beloved orange camel SFO "Beer Scout" that has a hotdog sheild. I love the knife and love the hotdog shield, in general, but really wish it had the Beer Scout Knife shield. :(

So what are your alternatives to "Beer Scout Knife?" I'll start us out with a couple of the most obvious.
how about th brew fan
