Altoids Survival Tin knife

what model of SAK's fit in the tin?

I know that my Cadet and Executive fit. Other than that, I'm not sure. I think the Sportsman, Recruit, and Tourist will fit, but I haven't tried. All 3-1/4" models should fit.

I do make some, in a variety of styles. They are handy little buggers.

What kind of steel do you make these in?

Instead of such a small blade, won't an average pocket knife perform just the same?

In one of his kits my bother has a Victorinox classic with the scales popped off. It makes it much thinner.

One of the main concerns in these kits is the size of anything that you put in there. Most of these knives have no scales so they take up little volume yet can perform many tasks.

In you guys kits some of you have the little water proof capsules, where do I get one of thoes. I looked on ebay but I wasnt sure what exactally they were called- Joel

i use a decontamination container and you can get them at most army surplus stores

I like the fact that two of my favourite makers John ( JK Knives) and Bryan ( Breeden Knives) are passing ideas in this thread...I'm thinking they should get their heads together and do a collaboration knife !!!!!

For a folder Gerber micro LST is good (as discussed), slighltly bigger but with better ssteel is the Spyderco ladybug

Thanks pitdog for the kind words.

Here is pic of my latest PSK kit knife for myself anyways lol. It is a Final Option Knife, but wider and I have a more deeper cut out area for my finger. It keeps my finger from sliding up on the blade. I put a blade coating on this one just for fun, in stead of leaving it with a satin finish.

I have been playing around with blade coatings. This blade coat is called Gun Kote and so far I am really pretty happy with it. it is just another option to have if you do not want a satin finish or to do your own patina.

Also, on another forum, ive seen a kit w/ the lid that was domed out a little for just this much more room...i thought that was a good idea too
