As much as I like a drop point 110, my vote went to clip point.
I can’t explain why. I love my Titan and S30V, and CPM154 drop points, but I keep gravitating back to the traditional clip points. Whether it’s an S30V Elite Auto, this 440C Lochsa wanna-be, a 154CM 560, or something else; I find a clip point 110 in my pocket more than drop points and I have a nice selection of each to choose from.

I agree

While I was getting familiar with BF in general, being new and all, your post caught my eye.
I've been following it along, waiting and hoping for the final decision. The suspense is killing me!
But, I sure can understand why it is such a tough decision. So I thought I'd cast a vote to kinda help matters along.
WRONG! I looked at the results after I voted and my vote actually made it a TIE! Sorry.
For what it's worth, I voted for S30V for two reasons.
First is the steel which I like a lot and I feel you will be happy with no matter what the use might be, around the farm or elsewhere.
Second, you mentioned "occasionally-skinning-game". I'm sure you take along more than one knife when engaged in that task, and if you're anything like me, I'm pretty sure there has been a time or two when you said to yourself something like, "If I had a different style blade handy, it would be one heck of a lot easier to take care of that blankety-blank spot". A drop point (generally my favorite) might just be the answer.
Best of luck to you in making your decision.

Clip point is classic style and beauty. I like both but prefer the clip.

I voted drop point. I like them both. I don't have a user 110. So my opinion doesn't matter much in that respect. But when i seem to be cleaning my display knives the pointy end of a clip knife always seems to stab me somehow....so down with clip!

Great pics! I'm still on the fence and at the time of this post it's 11-10 in favor of drop point S30V. I'm hoping to meet up with pjsjr pjsjr this week and get a feel for the drop point geometry, so maybe I'll have a decision then. Looking over my collection, I see I tend to grab pointier ones first. Opinel, puukot, Le Thiers, Laguiole, 110 and 112 (but maybe that's as I don't have a drop point in those last two). When I use a stockman, I almost never open the spey or sheepsfoot blade. I do use my Mercator with its spearpoint fairly often, though that might just be an outlier.

But I like the idea of the drop point being able to take a bit more abuse. Never mind I've never broken the tip off a clip point knife (as I tend to use the right tool for the job most of the time). The drop point looks robust. Maybe I am swayed by the YouTube ravings of 1972 Woodsman.

So keep the comments coming, keep voting, and I'll report back with my decision and a brief review when the knife comes in.

I don't have a 110 drop point, but I do have a 112. I really don't like the looks all that much compared to the clip. It is a little more stout though and has a pretty solid feel. I'd like to try a 110 DP at some point...

Thank you. Sheaths I made for some sweet marbles knives.

What happened?!
Two pages and no one gave the standard "get both" answer?! :)
Funny you should say that. I was considering telling him that I'd buy the one he wouldn't want if he buys both.
BUT...I figured I'd probably end up wanting want the one he kept, lol.
Besides, I kinda feel he's gonna get both 'cause a guy can't have too many Bucks and what's the prob. with adding one more to the collection, anyway?

Ha! You're both so on the money! But I'm only going to get the one. pjsjr pjsjr and I met for lunch yesterday and he generously lent me a drop point 500 to test for its geometry and an S30V clip point 110 to test for its steel. The drop point 500 is a great little knife and punches above its weight. I'm not put off by the geometry, either. Even though they look weird, I can imagine liking a 112 in drop point, too. But that's another kettle of steel.

The jury is still out on S30V. I am getting a feel for how the steel performs. I'm carrying the 110 all next week (if Preston permits, of course) and I'll be comparing it to my years of 440C and 420HC use.

Many thanks to Preston! He's a terrific guy!

Zieg, great to meet up and visit with you. You give that S30V 110 a work out and see how it does. I think you'll be impressed...420HC is not bad but I think the S30V trumps it. I know it's easier to sharpen than 440C and IMO holds it's edge as well if not better. Preston
