Am I crazy for not liking the Paramilitary 2??

No, you're not crazy at all for not liking it. Unfortunately, all the hype surrounding the knife made you feel like you would be if you didn't like it. I look at all the recommendations of a knife as just that, a recommendation to try it out for myself. I've been introduced to a number of knives that way. Some I feel I can't live without and some I got rid of the same day I got it. And such is the eternal search with our choice of hobby/obsession/addiction.

I am just not a fan of Spyderco's in general, and it is purely for aesthetic reasons. I know they are great knives, but they just don't get a rise out of me like Benchmade, Beckers, or ZT's do.

Lots of people agree with you here but that is not necessarily an indicator of your mental health. You'll have to see a professional to determine that. I know I'm not crazy. . . . . . . Mom had me tested.

I'm not too crazy about it either. I had one for about 6 months and I liked carrying it and using it but I would rather carry other knives that I had.

It's a fun knife to play with, and I'm sure it's a beast of a knife to work with. It's just too be for EDC for me.

I like the Military way more that the PM2. I've not owned one, but handled one. Just cannot get excited about it and will not buy one.
I have three Military's and will have a fourth soon.

I never really warmed up to the lock. If they made it with a liner lock I'd like it a lot more. Mine sits in a drawer. I should sell it to free up some cash.

No, you're not crazy. We won't all like the same things in a knife. Thats why there's so many designs out there.

Its one of my favorite knives.

I really like the Paramilitary 2, but will say that you are not crazy for not liking it. That's the great thing for knife aficionados - there are a lot of knives out there to choose from. There is something for everyone.

i was going to buy the paramilitary because it was recommended over the manix2, but i'm having a hard time finding one so i'm looking at something else less expensive.

I like the knife. I did not like Military and was resistant to all that hype around it. Para2 was a nice surprise: it feels right size to me, good blade to handle ratio, light and comfortable. I am not sure about the lock. I wish they would make the liner lock version: as a sprint run or like Para3. But considering that they still struggle to fill the current demand, I will not hold my breath for it.
I do not see anything hyper in it, but it is a well made knife and a good value if you buy it from one of the internet dealers.

I haven't ever really warmed up to the PM2. I trust the strength of the compression lock, but it's unpleasant to use compared to other stout, reliable lock mechanisms (e.g. axis lock), and the weirdly huge size of the knife for how much blade it provides is off-putting as well. It feels great in the hand to cut with, don't get me wrong, but I can't see why I'd ever carry when the Benchmade 710 is the same size in my pocket and provides an inch more sharpened steel.

Different strokes for different folks. It's a very nice knife, and I understand why other folks might love it. I don't get the hype at all, though.

That said, I love Spyderco and carry one of their other knives pretty much everyday.

Para 2 is one of my favorites.
Sometimes it's nice to have a shorter blade but I can't stand a three finger grip, so I love the longer handle.
It is good that we have so many choices out there.

I've had 6 or 7 but traded/sold them all. Not because they aren't good knives but because people will go nuts trying to get them! Excellent trade bait. I don't mind the handle a bit as it makes for a very sure grip. For the stock price (or less) than mini-Ritter it is also a bargain. I'm quite certain there is another in the future.

You are not crazy for not liking the PM2. There is no argument about it's quality, but it is just not a Military, which is my 'gold standard' of knives.

Very much enjoy mine. I think it's a great blade and I like the handle to blade ratio. Feels comfortable in hand. S30v is a great steel IMO. I like the lock, the opening and closing speed, and the weight. I'd have two if they weren't so hard to come by.
