am i getting too carried away?

Ive walked out the house forgetting ive several in each pocket . and then turn around to return some feeling awkward (and guilty for not taking them all out for a walk ) lol

IMO, it's solely up to you want you want to use and carry, and who cares what anybody else thinks...

Now if the question was "would I myself personally carry 3 to 50 knives on my person" the answer would probably be no, with a caveat.
I think it really depends on what you do from day to day. I would also ask what the functional difference between each knife is.

If you're in an office setting 90% of the time, where the most you are likely to do is open letters, cut some tape, and maybe open a bag of chips, then I'd say 3 to 4 knives might be a little heavy from a practical/functional stand point.

If you seperate your knives by "this is my paper/plastic cutting knife, and this is my scotch tape cutting knife" then it's possible you might be getting a little too specific. ;)

Personally, I carry a small pocket fixed blade that I made for myself, along with a leatherman wave.
I guess, TECHNICALLY, that's 3 blades, plus a pair of scissors.

That said, I really only use the fixed blade for 99.9% of my cutting tasks. I'm not sure if I've ever used the blades on my MT.
Then again, I also sharpen/strop my main blade when it starts to get dull, so it's always ready to go.

Again, it really just depends on your own personal needs.

my choices are definitely based on the best knife for the job. the Esee for the more difficult daily cutting chores, the SAK because it can do many things the others cant, and the one hand opener ive been carrying lately is the Nilakka...it is one heck of a good knife for food prep. and although it doesn't get used very often, the F1 rides in the EDC bag for peace of mind. that might seem silly to some, but that knife has proven its worth many times and it isn't taking up much space in my Maxpedition bag.

as of late, I have started carrying THREE knives on my person daily... a small fixed blade (Izula II with TKC G-10 handles or the Candiru w/G-10 as well), a Vic Farmer (both the fixed blade and the Farmer in a pocket sheath), and ive now added a one hand opener (one of my various Spydies). those three plus a F1 in my EDC bag, so in all actuality im now toting 4 knives with me everywhere I go. so now im gonna ask the guys/gals on the board...what do you think, overkill or not? they all get used, but in all honesty, the ESEE and the Farmer see the most use, but something in me says "I cant leave this one behind, I might need it" :D LOL

If you have to ask, . . . . . :o

lol...when a fella has very few friends who even carry one knife, a guy does catch a bit of flack. i know im not crazy or paranoid, just a man who likes to be prepared for whatever gets thrown my way...why cant they see that? LOL
and i don't dare let them see the other stuff i carry in that bag... (spare ammo for my j-frame, a first aid kit, spare flashlight with plenty of batteries, several bic lighters, a couple small candles, a leatherman, a small ASP, an eton radio, paracord, a small pair of vise grips, a couple large Ziploc bags, a small notepad and pen, and a small spyderco ceramic stone)

I need a larger bag. I only have room for one lighter (+ ferro rod, tinder, matches, magnifying card)

And I never have more than four knives and a multitool between pockets and bag.

But I never ask. :)

When I wear jeans, I normally have my small seb insingo, vic cadet in my 5th pocket, and my fisher space pen. When I have cargo shorts on, I will carry a larger folder in my left, lower pocket, keep my sebie, and cadet. I just need to add a sheathed fixed blade to my belt and I'll call it good. (for now)
