Am I Insane?

A bit partial to a nicely colored set of G10's. And Insane? Only in that we realize - perhaps subconsciously - that collecting something keeps you mentally active; knowledge seeking; alive and vibrant. I once heard an old person remark: "If you want to stay young - collect something."...;-)

We're All here because We're not all there...:D

I have plenty of Bright G-10 handled knives...but my first ASH has Micarta and feel that was the original handle material so just being a purist....

My "first love" was - and still is - a well worn Skinny with black & tan G10's. Got it off the X - Change in late 2013 for $255. With sheath. What a great buy. It has since been joined by six other ASH1's...;-)

I know the feeling....I have a Fatty Stripper and one from the Bloodbath Ganza which will stay fresh as a daisy....I know there can never be enough to fill the ASH Void.....:D

And many other Bussekins have joined those. Up to??? Twenty Five total??? And always on here (now), looking for more of them...;-)

..... I did the total a few weeks ago, after a mate asked.... I did feel a little strange when I saw the bottom line.......!!!!!

And how many ASH1's please? My collecting range started with those (now up to seven), but has expanded to include DSF/DSSF's (total of four); SJTAC's (currently only two); or any others that suit my fancy. And as we know - it only ends when we die...;-)

I've thought of trying horse stall mat scales, but for me, the big benefit of ResC is the cushion it provides along the tang. Simply covering the sides with a cushioning material of any sort wouldn't really get you the same effect as a one piece handle. Stall mat does seem to be fairly popular though, so maybe I'm wrong. I"m going to have to get some to try out as well.

You could always cut a piece in the shape of a "u" or half I beam. Lay it over the tang so its covered along with both sides. That might be comfy. Could even grind down the top tang to get it to fit more nicely along the top.

.... including the 3B2/Varients... 11ish which is actually less than 10% of the total.... but the single most represented blade... and the one that I come back to over and over again.....

Yes, there's just something about that shape. I even notice that when I see a group photo, my eye's are always drawn to the ASH1's. You understand...;-)

Great idea on fitting that handle, Tim. May try it if I get enough time away from job; wife; son; other pressing life activities... Cheers.

To the thread title... they say if you have to ask... :p
As for the res-c handled ash, while I like the idea, I'm not sure it would feel the same unless a new handle was created. The basic handle is not nearly as comfy as the ash handle, especially a skinny with standard thickness scales on it, though the mags sanded down are great too.

Perhaps you are correct, Tim. I do find, however, that most knives do not have enough grip bulk for my tastes. Especially on knives with longer, heavier blades. I have "normal" sized mitts, but enjoy the leverage and control that wider grips provide...;-)

I really like some bulk too, but deeper with flat sides, like the Ergos and glocks. If you could make ergo-shaped res-c that wouldn't twist off that would be even better

I prefer this kind of grip too, I like the feel of standard thickness scales over the magnums on nearly everything.

And that's a nice looking Skinny there, Tim. Do you still own it?...;-)

Yup, it hangs over my hallway entrance in it's Chuddy Bear dangler ready to go at a moments notice. ;) That is just one of my best shots of it back when I first got it back from getting Competition Finshed and rehandled by the shop before putting her to use. After holding a 3b2 and 2008(?) SE in hand, I had to have the thin grips.
