I recently bought a strider SnG from a guy off the exchange. He requested a money order, so I sent it off last Monday. I haven't heard from him since, and I sent him an email and a PM yesterday and today, respectively.

Now, I still haven't gotten a single word from him, but his "latest activity" shows he's been on the forum (but not posting) basically all day. He has 100% positive feedback, so I don't want to jump to conclusions, but it kinda seems like I'm being ignored and have heard nothing about the $285 I sent the guy or the item that was in exchange for.

Should I do anything else? Do I have any legal recourse if he just doesn't respond at all? I think I shouldn't do MOs any more after this experience. Too much waiting and no way to track the payments...

UPDATE: I contacted him from a different email address (using a different name) and he responded. He says he shipped it out Wednesday of this week.

Update: tracking for package received. All is well.

He should at least email you...its nice to do deals with someone who has fast and frequent communication

im sure it will work out

Give it a few more days at least.... I waited a while for one of my recent purchases simply because life happens to both buyers and sellers ;) It all turned out good in the end. If things do not improve, contact the Mods.

Wow, you are going to town on those SNG's! I sort of want an SMF double gunner, but I haven't been able to drop that much just yet.

Comeuppance, the odds are that this will turn out just fine. Things like this happen often, and have happened to me too when a seller zones out and doesn't give good communication. The seller knows everything is just fine, but you as buyer don't and that creates tension. But I give this a 90%+ chance of a happy ending. It is a good reminder, though, that money orders, gift paypal, etc. increase the risk of loss and maybe should be avoided where possible. Hang in there, and we'll be watching.

I've ran into a (very) few people here, that seem to think it's OK not to answer you after a deal is done. They don't rip you off, they just don't leave any feedback, or answer anything after you make the deal with them. I sure don't know why, but some are like that and believe me, once I deal with them I avoid them after even if they didn't not ship me their end.

I hate that crap. Plenty of communication until money gets in hand or the knife gets shipped, then when it matters most, when your on edge anyway, *crickets*

I'm sure things will work out for you and that SnG will end up in your hands soon:thumbup:

*you can track money order payments by the way by sending them in a priority envelope(?) with a tracking number *

Okay, so, now I'm officially unsettled. The guy has been on the site at least once a day, and has not responded to any of my PMs or emails. Now I find out he has someone at least accusing him of not honoring his side of a deal. I'm PM'd the poster to see if the issue was ever resolved.

What's my legal recourse if he ultimately ignores me long-term or refuses to send the item or my money back? I mean, obviously, I'm going to wait a bit before I do anything drastic.

I like to think I'm overreacting, but I'm really concerned that I've just lost $285...

Seems like its been long enough that the MO should have reached its destination, can you check to see if the MO has been cashed? That would tell a lot.

Next step might be to get the Mods involved?

He is probably busy with his new house purchase but its kind of weird how 99% of his posts are in the buy sell trade area. I would think if the he never got his money back then the seller wouldn't have a 100% feed back but I could be wrong because it only goes back 12 months. Hope it works out thats alot of money.

The only way to check is to file a lost/stolen claim, which costs additional money. Besides, I would assume that he would send me a message if he hadn't gotten the MO yet.

I found the thread where you bought the knife and it's also a bit strange he provided no pictures, other than saying they are still up on Knife Art's site. I don't blame you for being concerned, after seeing he stills owes money to a member and also the price he charged was IMO well below what these commonly sell for.

Add in the fact a good bit of time has passed since you mailed the MO off, the guy has been on this forum on and off, won't answer your Pm's or emails and yes I'd be very concerned, as well as angry!

Not bad, but still not much of a public reputation. Personally, I wouldn't send a MO to a user with less than 15 feedbacks that included several mentions along the lines of "fast shipping" and "clear communications." Those are clear marks of someone who cares.

Give it time. 5-7 business days is a legitimate turnaround time. However, not returning e-mails is a red flag.

He sent the MO off on the 6th of May. This coming Monday it will be 2 weeks elapsed time.
