First of all, don't get me wrong...I am a Spartan fan 100%, BUT, (there is always a but) I don't know how much better the SHF could be than the Pallas that I have? The Pallas is great...it now comes in MagnaCut, aluminum anodized handle, button lock for superior figability, titanium arrow clip, available in stone wash or DLC and made in America for almost half the cost of a nice SHF! Sure, I would love to have a nice SHF if I had more of a surplus of expendable income but I, like most, do not. Maybe one day but right now, I would rather spend my money on some other Spartan Blades that I can afford like the Fighter or such!

They're different knives and not in contention with each other. Also, an SHF is a more classic design whereas the Pallas is a bit different in the details. Getting an SHF to dropshuttiness through a good break-in period makes it plenty "fidgity" although Mr. Harsey would probably think less of us for putting weight on that as a metric. 🤣

Both are good knives and I enjoy them both, but yep, different. I don't have the Pallas that I had (briefly) anymore, but stil have most of my SHFs. Just classic beasts for sure. I do like that the Pallas now comes in MC and may have to recheck one out.

I’ve received quite a bit of peer pressure to buy a shf. Looking at you norcalAF norcalAF 😂.

I’ve checked them out quite a few times. While the graphics are very cool, it’s just not my style. I’m a plain jane type of guy for the most part. While they’re well made, there’s just nothing there for me that has pushed me over the edge to purchase one. I also find them to be a little too heavy and the colored pocket clip fillers drive me crazy. I can’t figure out why you would want to draw the eye to them. But I do concede they’re excellent knives.

Thanks for the reply! I didn't mean to imply that the Pallas could replace the SHF, I was just curious as to why the SHF cost much more! You are correct, both knives are stellar examples of American Craftsmanship and I do hope to own a really nice SHF someday! 😍

I will say that I think the SHF costs more because it's their flagship folder, designed by Mr. Harsey himself. Other than that, full titanium slabs (most of which have extensive graphics!) is probably the culprit behind the increased price. That said, I'm looking at the Pallas again myself. I like that they have moved to MagnaCut, and at the price, the Pallas is an attractive package. I may have to give one another shot!

I would recommend keeping an eye on the Exchange, as SHFs come up fairly often, usually at a decent discount (unless they're one of the damascus bladed models). This way, you aren't out the full price, and you can always move it along again (well, you'll need a Gold membership!) if it doesn't gel with you.

Maybe I can find a real good deal as I would actually prefer a plain SHF...I do like the graphics but I feel like they may be dated in a few years!! I am not a flipper, I tend to keep my knives and guns forever, LOL!

They're good looking knives, though I'm not a fan at all of the edge termination at the heel. The graphics are impressive and I wouldn't mind seeing others follow in their footsteps on the lasering of handles...I can only take so many frags, golf putters, crosshatches, and dimples. I've often considered adding one to be the "tank" folder in my collection as I'm not into Medford, Strider, etc. I then ask myself why I wouldn't just buy an Umnumzaan because my Sebenzas are some of my favorite EDCs. Then I ask myself what a Zaan can do that an Inkosi can't because I know I love the Inkosi. Then I don't buy any of them because I'll take any excuse to carry extra knives, and if there looks like any possibility that my day could bring hard use/abuse I'll typically have a fixed blade on my belt.

That one on the exchange is pretty cool though...

You invented the merry-go-round didn't you?!

You are supposed to give in to the addiction, not dance around it!

🙃

I want a Zaan too.

Full size Plain Jane Sebenza is 4.7 ounces. Full size Plain Jane SHF is 6.0 ounces.
If the SHF was an ounce lighter, I'd try one. Until then, I'll be sticking with my Sebenzas.
