Am I the only one?

Yes; well so far. I dig folders for regular carry.

However fixed blades have there place outdoors to be used and abused.

I really don't get "hating all folders', but what ever floats your boat.

It takes all kind to make the world go 'round.

I prefer fixies at this point in my life, or at least use them more. No faster deployment possible and no way to have a tougher knife.
Folders have their place tho. Usually carry one of each. The fixed is more usefull, the folder smaller lighter thinner and better for small jobs. Or is on a multitool and I will put my pliers and screwdriver ahead of your blade for a lot of tasks.

Nope. I don't prefer them either. Folders are a compromise and one that I glad to have most days, but a fixed blade is better in most all regards IMO.

This is me to a T.

I very much prefer fixed blades. They are my true passion when it comes to knives. (Now anyway - for years and years it was folders) I have owned nearly every folder I've ever wanted to own. Hundreds of them. I've sold them all off, and only have 2 folders now that I use regularly.

It's all about the fixed blades to me now. I've got tons of em. But I don't hate folders. I just don't like em as much.

I just don't see the point in having a knife with an obvious breaking point.
Yes I always have a 4in fixed blade in my pocket.

Odd. Doing some fairly heavy outdoor work with my folders for years, I ve never broken one. I do use sturdy ones for work. And I use them as knives and not other tools. So while folders aren t as strong as fixed blades , they are strong enough for my knife uses. I ve never tried to carry a fixed blade concealed so that s why I prefer folders for edc.

And by the way, don't believe me? Go take a folder and fixed blade of the same size and beat the crap out of em..... Which one has lock problems, or an off center blade, or gunk in the pivot?

I can guarantee you it's not the fixed blade.
