Am I the only one?

I personally don't care. I follow the law and use my knife lawfully. Id take an officer to court if they took away my knife for no reason--being pissed off isnt an excuse to not follow the law and this includes officers.

Never had a problem and have carried knives for years.

I was going to FedEx last week to ship a knife out for a trade. I also had my work knife clipped as well as my Leatherman Blast. I put everything down my pockets as far as they would go.

I keep mines in my pocket, It's the same reason why I dont open carry even though it might be legal. Its just a matter of time before a cop sees ya with it and freaks out and perhaps shoots before thinking or knowing whats legal and what's not. At the very least I dont need the hassle.

The reason I do it though is because I don't want to have to deal with the hassel of going to court. I would if it came down to it, but I would rather not spend all of the my money, nor spend my time defending myself for something that is legal.

In Canada, the difference between a legal and illegal knife is whether or not it is concealed, so I'm often obligated to keep the clip showing.

Except in Calagary. By their By-law, it MUST be concealed.
Remember, there are no laws against concealed carry of TOOLS, and, since we can't carry weapons here, it's a TOOL.
In most jurisdictions in Canada though, the local cops will try to say that concealed carry indicates INTENT to use it as a weapon.
So, I carry with the clip showing(unless I were to go to Calgary).

First thing i do when i get a new knife is removing the pocket clip, i don't like how most of the handles feel with the clip attached.
So my knives are always deep in my pocket so i don't have to worry.

I guess it depends on what part of the planet you call home.

Here in my state, you do not want to draw any more attention to yourself than you have to.

I have absolutely no fear of debating a LEO about what I have on me, but why invite that and have it eat up your precious time. I am always on a tight schedule (whether at home or at work) and 30 minutes of hassle is 30 minutes too much.

During the week I keep my edc deep in pocket. On weekends I usually have my folder clipped to the pocket.

I have, from time to time, stuck my hand partially in my pocket to cover the clip if LEO is around, especially if I have one of my 4" blades on me.

For me, the knives with pocket clips get clipped to the pocket corner, and the SAKs get carried in a Victorinox sheath. Fixed blades are carried on the belt in a sheath. I've gotten minimal problems with the LEOs here.

Earlier today when I was walking into a gas station, I noticed a cop car outside. Because of this I decided to put my Flash II, which was clipped to my pocket, all the way into my pocket. I usually just keep it clipped in my front right pocket. I'm in PA so it is legal to carry an A/O, but for a few reasons I slid the knife into my pocket. 1) When it comes to knives, cops don't always know the law. 2) I don't want to have to deal with explaining to any cop if he happened to notice the knife, even though I carry it for here and there, the cop could still give me a hard time. 3) I would expect the cop to give me a hard time because he would assume things because I'm 20 and my hair is half way down my back. I am always respectful when talking to cops, but that doesn't mean they will go easy on me. So who here tries to "cover up" their knife so that they won't have to possibly take a few minutes answering to a cop?

Yeah the cops can be as troublesome as the urban ghetto gangster punks. I try to avoid them all inconspicuously. It seems to me most are out to clash and miss the bigger picture of everything. Sensible cops as with people are a rarity.

No police officer is going to care what knife or how you're carrying it unless you give him a reason.

I would advise you to avoid large cities, especially NYC.

In NJ there are some things that are simply banned, the rest are legal to carry so long as you have a reason. Heh.

If I'm going to work I carry nothing (security is very strict, anything pointy bigger than a SAK Classic gets left in the car), otherwise I generally have a Leek clipped to my pocket. If I'm wearing cargos, I also always have an Opinel in my right cargo pocket and a Fenix L1T in the left cargo pocket. Unless you look like a troublemaker or actually start trouble, you're fine.

But that "nothing visible" rule in NYC is for real. Where do you think cops get their knives? Your knife WILL be confiscated. At the very least.

Never have, never will.
I have yet to have a problem with a police officer over a knife.

In 2003 I was involved in a motorcycle accident, other parties fault. I handed the officer my .45 Kimber before getting in the ambulance, with the assurance she would give it to my wife when she arrived. The officer did not take the two knives I was carrying, thus I spent two days in the hospital with them two knives.;)

Kept it from being too boring when my wife brought one of my hones and some of my knife magazines.:D

I never draw attention to my self, consciously anyhow. I am allowed to carry anything I can conceal, as long as it’s not fully automatic. Un-tucking your shirt or dropping a clipped knife into you pocket can flag notice from those trained to see such things. I always walk around with my hands in my pocket and shirt un-tucked, except at work. I’m not allowed to be armed at work.

I haven’t had any problems since I was in my 20s, I almost got arrested for having a plum bob on my belt.

Gotta love Oklahoma! :) We have a getaway place there and I once bought an auto from a local pawn shop. I asked (tongue in cheek) about the legality of autos in OK, and was told (with a big smile) "Just keep it in your pocket." :)

As for me, I hate clips anyway so everything is pocketed.

It all comes down to where you live... Some places walking around with a gun strapped to your side does not even turn heads. In some other places something as a simple keychain knife can get people into a bitch fit.

"In Canada, the difference between a legal and illegal knife is whether or not it is concealed...."

Not true. It's illegal in Canada to carry a concealed weapon, but a knife is not necessarily a weapon. It's only a weapon if it's designed as such (e.g. a dagger), used as such, or intended as such. A pocketknife rarely meets these tests unless you do something to make a cop think that you're not on the side of the angels.

I always carry mine with the clip exposed, just because that's what the clip's for.

Stabman, I didn't know about that Calgary by-law. When did that come in?
