Am I weird?

people like what they like. I personally love all metall handles. But I also love composites when something lightweight is paramount. I am probably even crazier because I genuinely miss a good old steel handle. And it pisses me off to no end that in the land of regular folders its considered a downgrade but the minute a spring is involved in the opening mechanism it becomes a $300+ option.

I'm actually tired of black G10 and as a result, started subconsciously buying metal handled knives again. The whole, "they get cold in winter" thing is overblown. Are you holding your knife for hours in a blizzard? They aren't all the same of course, definitely prefer aluminum and titanium to steel, weight savings and so forth.

I don't go for 'steel' scales, but In general I like the visual appeal of well constructed aluminum or Ti slab knives, with a few quirky exceptions. An example:

Grayman Dua vs. Sebenza CGI....The Dua is one of my favorite knives and one of those I love to hold and play with; I can still stare at it for minutes at a time marveling over it. The Sebenza, on the other hand leaves me totally cold; it seems souless when I hold it---the vapid beauty queen. Although CRK's are what they are, I have zero fascination with it, and I tried, believe me. It now sits in a drawer and I hope someday to get a spark over it.

I use slipcases to avoid scratches in my pocket and I don't experience a 'cold' factor in winter, it hardly occurs and is way overblown.

I also like G-10 and wood. Not a big fan of FRN and many Spyderco handles but I love the the feel of Zytel on a well designed handle, my Gryphon M-10 being a case in point.

I actually really love all Ti handles, just feels good to me, but there is no question that a well designed G10 handle with something like an 'Anso' pattern is much better for grip.

Also, I hate any Ti or metal handles in the winter, they get so COLD, but I can live with that.

You're not 'weird' for not liking a certain handle material, I would be more interested in knowing why?

Can't agree with this enough.

Never had any discomfort from using an all Ti knife in cold weather. I've found that it retains a fairly neutral temperature from my body heat while being clipped to my pocket.

I like the look of metal, but if there is no texturing to allow for better grip, that knife probably won't see much use. For instance, I have a ZT 0770 aluminum version, and it's a little too smooth for me, but a 0801 is just fine.

I like metal handles because I don't like my knives cracking when they get dropped.
Or melt when they get hot.
Or get deep cuts from keys.
Or bending.
But hey, like what you like.

But wood handles are good, but they swell and warp when wet.
I like G10, but it shatters when dropped.
And I plain and simply don't like carbon fiber.

I like many all-metal knives; Alox SAKs, stainless-handled Spydercos, titanium CRKs, etc. I've been carrying my SS Delica 4 PE. The only knives I'll carry clipped anymore are SS-handled Spydies; they clip very strongly, but do not abrade pocket material like other handle types. The weight is no problem for me, and I've never had any problem with it 'getting cold in winter'. I've also never had any issues with 'slippery grip'. Because the handle is shaped ergonomically, it stays in my hand. I really don't need a handle to be textured to maintain a good grip on it.

I also like G10 and such. But I don't require it on a carry knife. I also like FRN. My FRN Salt knives that I carry are light enough to be carried down in the pocket.
