Am I weird?

If you dont like metal handles you're not weird, I don't like them either, but if I have enough for say a, Sebenza then I like them.

Look into natural handle materials like bone, wood, heck even ivory.

Metal of any kind is at the bottom of my preference list for handle materials. I prefer composite materials for practicality and wood scales, stabilized or natural, for aesthetics. That said, it won't stop me from buying a folder with metal handles if the design is intriguing enough. It will, however, stop me from buying a fixed blade where the heat transference and potentially slick grip have a much more pronounced effect.

Never had carbon fiber before although, I have just ordered my first one from Bob Dozier from his Raptor series. It's made with F-22 Raptor carbon fiber! 😊

ooh! You're going to like CF. Smooth yet grippy.
A very nice folder, btw.

I like metal handles because I don't like my knives cracking when they get dropped.
Or melt when they get hot.
Or get deep cuts from keys.
Or bending.
But hey, like what you like.

But wood handles are good, but they swell and warp when wet.
I like G10, but it shatters when dropped.
And I plain and simply don't like carbon fiber.
I have dropped G10 handled folders on the pavement several times and not had so much as a chip. Never heard of a problem wit G10 shattering.

As for metal handles, I like them fine. Ti or aluminum is better (IMO) than steel, but I look for ergonomics before material.

Dont like metal handled knives either. But to answer your first question yes you are.:D
Me too... Liner or back locks, non-metallic scales, tip-up option, wave or/and thumbstud or disk,
I hardly own knifes that are different, except of course some traditionals and some collectable, must have, or curio knifes ...

If you can't find some major love for alox SAK's, then yes, you're weird.:p

Sorry, I don't care much for metal handles OR SAK's. So many other nice materials for handles and I prefer a knife that is a knife - not a gadget. :) I appear to be in a minority though.

I have no opinion. Though, i'm sorta biased considering my zt0561 is one of my favorite fondling knives in my collection.

Nope, don't care for metal handles, either. Most of my knives have plastic handles; I guess that makes me a bottom feeder.

Don't get me wrong, I like G10. A lot
But ive heard that out shatters like glass.
Never happened to me though.

The source you heard that from was mistaken, unless there was a lot more to the story (like cryogenic conditions and sledge hammers perhaps).

Like what you like, but G-10 is a really tough material;)

I seem to recall a test made in some knife publication years back involving Zytel , Micarta & G-10 + a 9mm handgun , the Micarta (don't remember which kind , paper , linen etc,) shattered but the others just had a round hole in them.

Please don't quote me on this as it was a long time ago I read it.

1234,,:)

I've accidentally dropped G-10 handled knives onto concrete or pavement a few times, and the only thing that happened was a very minor ding or two; pavement of course being more rough on it than smooth concrete. Nothing close to shattering, not even a crack.

What handle materials do that? None of the ones on the knives I carry. I've dropped G10, FRN, no shattering there. No melting(in Texas) or scratching either. I have had some metal handled ones LOOK a little scuffed up but no damage on them either.
