Amazing Little Bark River Experience...

What's the difference between a tale and a tall tale?
A tall tale starts with "I wish I had my camera with me..."
Sorry Brian, couldn't resist.
I know this story has to be true.

Brian cutting a bee in half is useless in a survival situation compared to the importance of being able to do something like this :D

Seriously though, I finally had a chance to tweak the edge on the Barkie Aurora and with a little work its now scary sharp :eek::eek:. Mike Stewart's A2 is a pleasure to sharpen :D

This thread has to have set a record. 3 pages of posts about Barkies and not one person has posted a pic of their knives. What's this world coming to? My Bravo-1.

Yes. They're fantastic knives. So sharp. Zero edge. Bueno.

No tan bueno my friend.... Sometimes you get a dull one. Which is what happened to me when I opened my last package and handled my Canadian Camp and Aurora. The Canadian Camp was shaving sharp. Just stropped it a little bit for the hell of it and put even a shinner edge. The aurora was NOT shaving sharp. I bet that if I ran my finger over the edge doing presure, it will bite me... but it was not shaving sharp. It took a fair amount of elbow grease to get it shaving sharp with sandpaper (600grit, 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000) and then some stropping with green butter. The very tip is not shaving sharp but I just didn't feel like working more on it... for now...

They are great knives, that's for sure. Maybe this one just scaped QC.

I've never gotten a Bark River that wasn't sharp as hell. Mike is great. Send it back. He'll fix you right up.

Send em back to Mike Stewart Mikel. he'll make it right and then some.

Thanks for the input guys... I am sure Mike Stewart is a great guy and that he would take care of it if I sent them back. The problem is that being in Spain and with customs watching every time something with an edge on it goes back and forth... is like playing Russian rulette. I sharpened the Aurora myself anyway and they are meant to be users.

I am not worried at all, and this knife being not shaving sharp is not going to put me off buying more Barkies. They are great knives! I have a few more blades from this maker on my list.

Brian, did you find the leftovers from the bee?

Mikel
