Making knives that are virtually identical to those made by reputable companies while using their patented technology is pretty scuzzy. Pass here.
so how can you be sure ganzo copied benchmade or others? It's Benchmade or Spyderco's responsibility and right to sue Chinese companies if they believe so. Ironically, they didn't
For knife users, we just buy what we like. What's wrong with that?
It isn't ironic, they can't go after the companies because it's not illegal in China, they absolutely do go after those that market and sell such rip offs in the US.

Yep. That's what I was alluding to in my response to that post. Seems obvious but I guess some people think one country can sue another based on the former's patent laws.
I make certain allowances for those who are not enthusiasts. When I was visiting the s/o in Poland last year, my friend, one of her roomies, had a "Cold Steel" Black Sable on his desk. I checked it out while he was at work. Of course it isn't a Cold Steel anything (doesn't even look like that model actually, more like a less cool AK-47.) But he's not an enthusiast. I don't think he'd even yet used the knife. He finds deals for electronics on some Chinese web sites, which also have some other deals that may appeal to him. A Cold Steel is a Schrade is a Buck is an Emerson as far as he is concerned. In such cases, where the buyer is clearly not into knives and certainly didn't research the counterfeit market, I make no judgment.
But on a knife forum with professed enthusiasts, it's different for me.
Yeah, I honestly think ignorance absolutely is an excuse, but I also think it's fine to disabuse folks of their illusions one they're here.

On topic - I don't like the looks of those knives in the original post at all. I will not knowingly spend my money with companies that rip off the work and intellectual property of others, while using the intricacies of international law to avoid penalties because it is too difficult or costly for the victims to prevail, even if they are in the right.
Also, it seems more like an attempt at shilling than trolling. Very old school, too. Establish a presence with a few on topic posts and then start in with the subtle advertising and linking to the products they are being paid to promote. Of course, I am not speaking about any individual, just discussing the practice of companies sponsoring shill accounts. Happens all of the time.
Sort of on topic, and also not singling anyone out here... I wonder where the market sweet spot is for this practice. It would make sense to market knives like this to enthusiasts. But then again, an enthusiast will have more knowledge of and likely a lower opinion of counterfeits in the hobby. Thus, it would be better to find a market you can convince that these knives are good enough. Wherever the ideal audience is, I don't think it's here (even though at first glance it would be.)
