Why is that something you have to make an extra effort to do for the month of July? I’m just curious, is your collection that large or diverse that it requires an extra effort to insure that in July, the month we celebrate our independence you carry an American made knife?
Maybe your collection is comprised of mostly imports as most younger collectors or those new to the and I hesitate to use the word, “hobby” have. Many people not knowing if they’ll get into the “hobby” won’t invest in better made and mostly “American” made blades so they buy Chinese or Pakistan made blades to keep costs down.
There’s a whole other segment who use a knife as part of their daily job EMTs, mechanics, LEOs, people who in some cases depend on their knives in some aspect to protect their lives. Whether it’s s cop who carries as a last ditch back up knife, the EMT who needs to cut a person from a seat belt or the mechanic/farm hand who carries a one hand opener because they’ve been tangled in rope or strapping or maybe got a shirt tail wrapped around a PTO and needed the ability to quickly access and open with their only available hand to get free.
Do you make it a point to carry knives of other countries during their holidays? Do you carry an Opinel on May 8th to celebrate (la fête de la victoire, le jour de la libration) ?
Good for you that you’re carryin’ a USA made blade everyday of July, just not sure of the purpose of the thread. Were you going to post a different pic of a USA made blade every day or just announcing your intention for July and that was all?
Are you encouraging everyone else to follow suit and do the same as you? I carry an American made custom and production knife every day regardless of the month or holiday. Here’s two I carry most days without fail and they’re both made here in the US.
The R.Cover drop point with Snakewood scales often rides along regardless of the day or month.
...then the other is kinda like a fusion, a mix of cultures but all American nonetheless. A friend and world renown local maker from my neck of the woods made this Aikuchi in gun blued 01 with black Linen Micarta scales. Obviously the heavy Asian influence is evident in Bud Nealy's pattern and name for it.
If I carried it, would the influence or name make it less patriotic than a Stag Stockman made by Rough Rider?
I'll give you props if you post a different picture of your USA made blade in a different pose/location or a different knife every day, other than that I'm a little confused as why you created this as a separate thread and not just posted in ,"...the knife I carried today thread."
Please post more pics to keep this thread interesting and in the Spirit of Freedom from British Rule, Happy Independence month.
Just wanted to add h-n-s, this isn’t an attack on you I don’t know you that well so it’s an attempt to understand the logic behind the thread and what you were expecting back.
I’m not sure if you just wanna show your stuff or are you encouraging others to do the same or are you asking for patriotic knife pics.
Inquiring minds wanna know(... and girls just wanna have fun!)
