One of my biggest problems is comming up with knife names!
Amninja.jpg

This is my latest creation in D2. It's 11 3/4 OAL with a 5" blade. I wanted to combine my favorite blade shape with the comfort and grip of the japanese style cord wrap. The handle is very drilled out under the Ti. allowing the knife to balance right at the finger notch.
My "Blackwood" is engraved on the spine between the first wrap and the false edge in a rather High Tech font!!
Any other thoughts on names???
I can't WAIT to come back to this topic!!

How about "Purple Lotus"

Wow, nice blade though. I've always wanted to make a blade of D-2. I'm sure that it is a very indestructible knife, what ever you decide to name it.

Neil,

I think it should be called the CBK (that's Cool Blackwood Knife to you and me.)

Folks, I've actually had the pleasure of handling this knife and it is absolutely AMAZING! I want one bad...

Dr. Lathe, it looks like " Posion Ivy" to me. I like it!

Neil,
absolutely beautiful!

Nice and curvy, so maybe a snake name. Darrel already has "Krait", so perhaps you could do Viper? Boomslang?

How about calling it "the4th"

As in, "May the fourth be with you!"

Or you could call it, "The knife I'm giving to Joel since he's so dang cool."

Hmmmm...on a more serious note, How about The Blackwood Bolo or Dr. Lathe's Lithe Lady?

It's pretty dang sexy.

Gorgeous Neil. How about going with that floral motif?
"Orchid"?
"Amethyst Angel"?

Now, what other news did I have? Oh yes, IT'S A GIRL!!!

HMMMMMMMMMMMMM..........
I dunno, I like Orchid! I have to go look up what a Lithe is
eek.gif
And a BOOMSLANG! I thought I new most of the snake names.
This is the first knife of at least three in this style and size. Next is a mild hawkbill that is more along the lines of a Wharnecliffe. When I saw the Ryan knives in this months Tactical Knives magazine I yelled, DAMMIT HE BEAT ME TO IT!! It will look very much like one of his but with the cord wrap.
After that it's another recurve that is wider and even larger.
Thanks for the name ideas and please keep them comming!

Thanks everyone for the name ideas, compliments and E-mails!! I like the flower theme and "Yankee Kozuka" is pretty ingenious!! You learn something everyday and today my vocabulary improved!
This knife has generated over 100 Emails and the American Ninja name seems to have STUCK!! Next time I will have to put up a sketch of the knife before I start the project in steel! That way it will get a name BEFORE it's done

Ninja's are dead men. Emotionally empty and drained of soul. (Metaphorically speaking.)

I don't think a "Ninja" name does the above knife any justice. It's too alive and pretty to bring up imagery that dark.

How about Samurai Recurve. I love that knife!
