That Herman Williams is dazzling. He also did the smooth red bone 8OT I posted.

Funny you should mention this; I have a 1975 Case Stockman 6347HP in red bone but the back scale is BLACK - completely black. I always thought this was a defect, do you think it was done on purpose, like some kind of fad?? Or maybe they were just getting lots of variation with their dyed bone and the policy was to put the darker scale on the back?

There was discussion about this some time back, because I had wondered the same thing... I think your assumption is correct.

I'm really fussy about my red bones, and would only keep the ones that had matching scales on both sides. Its harder to find them, but for me, its worth the extra time.

There are some great knives being shown here guys

Wow, gotta get some more pics up here! Ive got a nice united canoe redbone, camill peanut in cherrywood, and some more Cases, ive got some filmimg to do!

Only American red bone I own, but a very different shade from the older material. Red Wine bone.

What makes this one especially cool is that it was gift from an old rapscallion that hangs out here in Traditional.

Something about the red scales from Case that can really make you stop and turn around for another look........go on and show a few more ...this time how about red scaled Congress knives..

I'll have to wait for daylight. My makeshift lightbox just doesn't do the color justice.

This one is a limited production with bright red bone scales and CV blades. There was a white one and a blue one in the series as well, but I don't have those. I do rather like this photo so, I thought I'd let you all see it again.
