I had purchased a Amherst Cutlery Stag Upswept Gentlemens knife a few months ago and posted my enjoyment of the knife and working with Tim at Amherst Cutlery.

A few weeks later I decided to pull the trigger on another Amherst knife but this time I would get the Straight Gentlemens knife to go with my first knife. I contacted Tim and paid my money, he was kind enough to knock off $25 since I had already purchased a knife from him. A few weeks went by and my knife didn't make it so I contacted Tim and he assured me it was going in the mail on Monday. After maybe two more weeks I still had not received my knife and tried to contact Tim but was not having any luck. I noticed on another knife forum that several other folks seemed to be in my position of ordering and paying for a knife but not receiving it after 30 days. I was very surprised because all of my dealings with Tim were very friendly and cordial and honestly I was concerned if something had happened to him health wise.

After 30 plus days Tim contacted me to apologize and only said that he was sure that I was not concerned about what happened only that a person he was counting on to mail off the knives did not get them out and he was indeed very sorry and would make it up to his customers. Well this post is to show you what kind of man Tim at Amherst Cutlery is and what he did for this customer. He not only refunded my $240 I had paid him for the knife he mailed me that knife also for no charge. On top of that I received the outstanding Barlow and Doctors knife for no charge in his way of apologizing for the mistake that happened.

I have had my share of mistakes happen to me when ordering stuff as have all of you I am sure. What I have never had though are these outstanding gestures of kindness in an effort to apologize for what had happened. Tim went above and beyond in his effort and I wanted to thank him privately and publicly.

Thanks Tim......

Tim is an honorable guy, he has had some employee mishaps, but his heart is in the right place.

I would never hesitate to deal with him.

That is way above and beyond the call of duty...lol. Seldom do you find someone willing to take the blame for the mistakes of their employees and even more seldom do they make that kind of apology. I may have to consider Amherst for a purchase in the future, anyone who treats a customer like that has a company that will stand behind their products.

Let's move this over to the appropriate forum...
