Amsterdam Meet 2013 Report of Upcoming Spyderco Prototypes

Now I know what shade of grey my SB's are coming with. Wonder why they laminated the blade though, guess they prefer to offer it without developing a patina.

Hope to get the Domino soon. I like it lots. I notice the insert on the lockbar.

Its too bad we dont get to see the grooved CF and Ti's at this time.

The Domino's scale looks better than the first time we saw it, and I don't know how I feel about the laminated SB. On one hand, it is a great move, but on the other, I wanted it to develop a nice patina.

Somebody on the Spyderco forum mentioned that the Domino had the same bearing system as the Southard flipper.

Wait the Super Blue Delica/Enduras are laminated?
Why would they do that?
I don't feel quite as good about purchasing a SB Endura at $90 for that
Was more excited to patina the entire blade

Huh, not totally sure how I feel about the laminated SBs... and honestly I was hoping to get gray G-10 on those, not FRN.

hmmm, may have to see if I can find one of the Caly 3s instead.

Well, add another to the collection, Domino will have to split time with the zt 0566 when it gets here.

I'm liking the ClipiTool.. Spydie hole on the bottle opener  And bring on the Super Blue!

Looks like the Domino uses a stainless steel lock interface instead of titanium? That is now without question on my list.

IG-88 over on the Spyderco forum posted this response with regard to the laminated Super Blue:

"I asked Sal if it was 420 like the Caly 3 and he knew for sure it was not 420 but a much harder steel with the same harding cycles as Superblue after some thinking he said he thought it was ATS-34 but he was not 100% sure. Whats nice is that Sal also told Spyderco only uses 2 japanees company for the Superblue knives, Moki and Sakai. Moki stamps out the superblue blades, thats why they are solid Superblue but doesn't doe it for ZDP-189 and laminates the ZDP. Sakai on the other does the opposite. They prefer to laminate the Superblue and do the ZDP in one piece. Very funny IMO to see 2 maker with the same steel do just the opposite And this is another trick to see where your blade is make. Laminted ZDP and full Superblue for Moki and Laminated Superblue and full ZDP for Sakai Thx Sal for sharing this knowledge!! "

Hope that helps.

the domino is going to be an epic win and imo much more desirable than the southard.

don't get me wrong the southard is a great knife but there's room for improvement.

i just hope they don't use bearings.

See my post above, somebody on the Spyderco forum stated that the Domino uses the same bearing system as the Southard! :(
