Amy-0's ER visit today

SUS SCROFA....FEAR IT and then some........So I was at work and I was pulling some LE Sus Scrofas for a certain HOG and guess what

It got me not once but twice...and my fingers would not STOP bleeding but alas still Amy-0 still answered phones spoke to several customers while waiting to go to the ER..I know it was bad cause I was freaking out everybody at work cause it was "Bleeding all over the place" so my gal Kendra comes and rushes me to the ER (THANK YOU KENDRA) and we wait........and wait.............but it all worked out in the end.....(A BIG THANK YOU to LORA too) so I will live....and I apologize if I was short with some of you that called (Sorry) but I was really holding my right hand over my head to stop the bleeding BUT I STILL ANSWERED THE PHONE:) but I do have a question...they did not stitch them...I asked all kinda questions but they "glue " them now. It was a very deep cut in the one finger(BTW I am typing with my left hand and using my right pinky and ring finger...Still "BRINGING IT"....Ha....but the question is........Who's the Hog's LE Sus Scrofa I cut my finger's on???????

No harm was done to knife...we have cleaned it and no trace of my DNA on it so no one can clone me:):) Those Scrofas are THAT FREAKING SHARP:):)

As my fingers jab and throb I will leave this thread with this.....YES I WILL BLEED FOR ALL OF YOU:thumbup::

Amy-0

Holy crap Amy! Sorry to hear you had to bleed for one of us, hope it wasn't me. :) Seems like they glue all sorts of stuff these days. Kind of makes you feel like your held together with gum and bailing wire orsome such, but I bet the scars will be much less than with old style sutures.

Hang in there and take it easy. The glue is better than stitches!
Tonight would be a good night to kick back with a couple beers!

I hate to think of you in pain but I'd still love to see some pics of the damage.
Those blades will bite you if you're not watching close. But even wounded you carried on. Really you are a special gal
Heal well
Michael

I glad that you are doing better Amy and you should know that I would do anything for you anytime! You know now we are going to have to eventually post the ER picture!:D

Amy sorry to hear of your pain and suffering. I hope you hit Jerry up for a danger pay raise.

So, does this mean that #27 is worth more as a tested prototype or worth less because its used?:D

Whoa, Amy! Glad you're all glued together now. We know how you like to come unglued. ;) Fear the SS - don't fear the glue. You can buy the stuff (medical grade - not standard superglue - it destroys flesh) over the counter and I've used it a couple of times to avoid the ER visit.

A can of cold Coors Light should sooth your hand. Apply liberally!

I know the joke is probably getting old now but, Sus Scrofa - Fear it!!

Now, about those ER pics... :D

.... but I do have a question...they did not stitch them...I asked all kinda questions but they "glue " them now:confused::confused:

If you had to cut something, I wonder if Jerry is wishing you had cut your lips so that he’d have a quiet week.:foot:

How do they differ?

Dermabond and Vetbond can sometimes be found on Ebay. It is better (stronger) than the stuff you buy at Walgreens.

From my friend Flotsam, on the SRKW Survival Forum:

Originally posted by Flotsam:
there is a difference between standard superglue (ethyl cyanoacrylate) vetbond (butyl cyanoacrylate) and dermabond (octylcyanoacrylate). as you go from the off-the-shelf superglue to the medical grade stuff, you lose the increased temps associated w/ curing, you gain more flexibility, and you have less tissue toxicity. Dermabond has also been shown to have some antibacterial (bacteriostatic, IIRC) action.

That said, dermabond s typically indicated for small, clean-edged wounds in areas of low tension - in other words, in areas where many wounds would heal just fine w/ little more care than keeping the wound clean. Generally speaking, sealing a wound is not a good idea - you are far more likely to seal infection in, than prevent it from getting in. Big gaping wounds should NOT be sealed, w/ glue - if they are to be closed, they should be cleaned thoroughly (using saline or clean water - not peroxide, bleach or iodine), all foreign material or devitalized tissue should be removed, and then closed in layers (if training/materials/etc... justify) or more reasonably, packed w/ a moistened sterile dressing, and covered w/ a dry dressing.

My preference - clean the wound well, pack deep wounds & cover w/ sterile dressing, or use steri-strips to approximate shallow wounds.

Hope all goes well with your cut finger.
It was bound to happen considering you work for Busse Knife Company..

Ouch! My last Busse bite just healed ... with all of the SS outbound its time to by some surgical glue stock

Get better soon!

Greg

Good point but I am more concerned about the CGASH-1's that are comin  There will be a bunch of infi processed then, definatley stock up on surgical glue and it's stock

But seriously Amy-O, thanks for all you do behind the scenes of our rants and demands. You are very appreciated :-) Heal up though cause I've got some infi ready for the shop! lol

As always...over and beyond the call of duty. You Amy are an inspiration for us all!

Amy, sorry to hear about your battle scar.
Although, I can actually picture you holding your hand over your head,
bleeding profusely, answering the phone and telling anyone who is trying to make you to go to the doctor,
"It's only a flesh wound!!"

I do think the owner of the blade is going to be sorry that you washed your blood off.
Seriously, Amy-O blood on Infi......does it get any cooler than that???

Amy,
Is it true then that no sacrifice is to great? Just kidd-n, hope you feel better tomorrow. I'm sure the fingers will be alittle sore.

Amy, we`re all glad to hear you weren`t hurt too bad. Take it easy for a while and see if the bossman won`t send Garth into town for lunch so you can relax and be catered to for once. After all, you spend all day taking care of us. I think it`s time we returned the favor.

Going above and beyond the call of duty......that`s just bringin`it Busse style.
