An afternoon with a BK 16 .......

Thanks for sharing Ethan! Very happy you have your grail, and that it has your name on it :D how cool is that!

I can see why the FFG would work better for this knife, having even lightly handled the FPR ones. Looking forward to getting the new ones. That coating looks pretty tough, please share as you wear it down?

Hey Mr. Bladite......this Ipad thingy is real intuitive and Moose only had to spend six hours to teach me how to do maybe four moves....LOL.......The times they are a'changin'......If I can repeat the upload This could get fun !!!!!!!.....

Wildman

I think you are gonna love it....

Ethan

I think you are right Mr. Becker,
I bought the First Production BK-17 and
I wasn't planning on buying the BK-16, But
since I saw it in your hand in the picture, I can't
get it out of my head. That full flat looks perfect!!!
Thanks for sharing the pics,
Joseph

Glad to see that you're getting to enjoy you're own blade. I'm sure this is quite a moment :D.

I'm excited to get one of these in my hand sometime soon. And I've got quite the comparison review coming up for the BK17 passaround that is happening. Heck, I even picked up two more blades to make a better comparison.

In other news, my wife is quite enjoying the "Joy of Cooking" that I picked up to get you on her good side, she even mentioned it might be cool to come to a gathering sometime... I'm slowly making progress here :).

Cool stuff Ethan. Now you just need to do a mod thread, couple of day hike threads, and a comparison thread and you can apply for your BeckerHead# haha.

Hey Rogue...Logan.....Wildman....

I have always coveted a BH #.........

I am happy that the"JOY' is improving things at home....

Wildman, The 16 FFG is THE knife......I love my other children and, equally too.....LOL.....but, I love this one the 16 bestest.......

Man that's nice. I imagine its got the new coating, how did it hold up? Better send it to me for proper analysis. I promise to have it back to you in 6-8 years. Snail mail is just terrible.

Great to see that you are so pleased with the results of all the hardwork that's gone into these.
It must be great to FINALLY have that dream knife in your hands after all these years Mr B?

If you have the time, please do post some food prep pics too though??

Thanks for taking the time (and I don't just mean to post).

Maybe it should be dubbed the "Sweet 16". Things like this don't happen every day. Then you could gear it up with a 16 ga shotgun and an M16. An unstoppable trio. Really like the FFG. I can see one in my future.

The coating held up well, maybe too well. :D We saw alot of media being left on the blade, which of course we knew it would. So, in all honesty, after a couple of times of heavy use, you're gonna have a blade that looks like it been through the mill.

A dirty blade?! Goodness me, that's shocking!

Great thread, great pics! Can't wait to get one of the FFG ones as well as the FPR I gots.

More great pics of that beauty of an amazing knife thingy! :D I am almost scared to get it because my customs may wallow in the abyss that is the bottom of my closet  But I can't wait, it looks perfect.

That's like on my ESEE, every time I do any chopping or batonning I'm picking wood out of it's teeth for days. Coating is damn tough though.

Tooj and I talked coatings......The new one is supposed to be tougher but, Obviously has more texture....Moose was right after teh afternoon workout it looked a bit messy......I spritzed it with a bit of alcohol and washed it with some dish detergent and it looks almost new......The bad stuff came right off......I was thinking about asking you all to let me know how the coatng was working out......But, asking the patina obsessed about coating styles is pretty useless.....LOL....
BTW, who got their Shorts stripped fastest.....Brown truck to Citrus stuff??????

i think, worst case, a little of my usual scotch bright mitt und sponge should polish any rough spots down. works a treat to cleaning that coated stuff... and the knives ALMOST look new, barring actual wearing of coating off. i had a can of black epoxy paint, and that just touched stuff up with, dried, and scotch brighted again. hard to tell it's not new ;)

course, that old phosphate coating is slicker than snot, never seems to come off, and well, is wonderful :)
