I don't know where you get your "info" from Dan ... maybe you have an "inside track" ... but personally I doubt a folder is likely ...
To begin with setting up the machinery for the folder is'nt an easy undertaking ... it is different from anything needed for a fixed blade .... then there is the issue of the "warranty" Busse is famous for ... is a folder able to have the same warranty and not cause undue problems for the company? I doubt it ...
Plus look at the "time line" from the first hand made proto's .... if Jerry were keen on the idea it would have already happened .... he is'nt the type of person to let the grass grow under his feet if he were going to do it ....
Nope, they are going to make the folder.
I have no "inside track" info, but I too think that eventually (that's the key word here...eventually), there will be a folder released. Surely, it takes time to do it right, i.e., "machinery setup", and I don't see it having quite the same warranty... And surely nobody who makes a folder is that insane to cover a folder like a fixed bladed knife, especially with us crazy car bashing, modem smashing, chain cutting, heavy using knife knuts!! ...But I imagine that when Jerry has the final design and the details worked out and is ready, it will be the best folding knife in the biz with the best folder warranty available... But then again, I have faith!![]()
"Faith" would only be appropriate if Jerry had said he would do a "folder" .... "hope" is a better choice .... and he has'nt committed to doing one .... and there is a message there if you look for it ....
I can see why he would'nt want to do a folder ....
If he set out as a knife maker to make the ultimate hard use knife .... and succeeded .... why would he want to embark on a different type of knife ???
He is'nt doing too badly as is though .... plus I don't think you give up being a college lecturer to make knives with the idea of making $'s .... it is much more likely a "vocation" .... and even if being a "businessman" is one of Jerry's strength's .... having the business sense to know that a "folder" could unravel the years of building up the "ultimate hard use knife" reputation might also play a part too ....

For the challenge? To try something new? To step out of the comfort zone? Why do other successful people do things like this? Where would computers be if everybody were content to have a machine that fills a room just to do basic functions? What about the space program? Artists? Architects? Researchers? Doctors & surgeons? ...etc., etc., etc...
...For the feeling of achievement, the success, and with it...the payoff.![]()
