An incorrect description in an Ebay auction

To mislead i would need to make false claims, in the auction there are no false claims about anything.

jeffmorpeth, arguing about definitions is the last refuge of a scoudrel. You could change your description to be perfectly 100% clear and honest with little effort.

Instead you argue, spending more energy and time than it's worth, no doubt because your ego has been bruised.

Unfortunately, your taste in knives exceeds the quality of your character.

Just wanted to add for Dave at CRK, you can report the item to ebay, since you're the manufacturer I imagine they'd believe you. Likely they would pull the listing.

DaveH i will not bother replying to your post as you are just a troll.

However Chris Reeves Knives can by all means contact the auction site if they think that the knife is misrepresented but i have emails from Mindy at Chris Reeve Knives which will confirm that everything i have stated in the listing is correct.

The only people who are doing a disservice is Chris Reeve Knives for putting knives like this into the public domain for civilians to buy in the first case.
Thank God we have good people like you to clean up their mess.

Wow, Jeff, you come into CRK's own house and diss them -- classy. CRK slightly tailored a knife as a favor for a customer, and now you are trying to flip and exploit it for a fourfold profit. In which dictionary can we reference your def of "disservice," BTW?

Most collectors interested in this knife don't visit this forum. But some do. I like the "fact" that you're helping us all to keep this thread active and bumping it to the top. You've said twice that you're done with this thread but just can't restrain yourself, can you?

Nicely, I see you have included the "or best offer" feature in your sale. I imagine it would really suck if you received dozens of offers for .99 and the like, all of which would appear on your auction listing upon your refusal or after 48 hours. That might look strange to potential buyers, no? While eBay does not define such behavior in the above link as abusive -- probably an oversight, maybe even a "disservice" on their part -- that would be unethical and I would discourage any such behavior in the strongest possible terms. Doing so would meet the letter but not the spirit of the auction, after all, wouldn't it?

Best of luck and happy eBaying,
Glen

I would like very much for you to quantify this statement. Based on your misrepresentation of the facts in order to bolster your profit margin on the sale of this particular knife it would be interesting to hear your justification for the above statement.

So if I understand this correctly, when I had a Z engraved on my dad's revolver the "serial number" became Z? I should probably notify S&W so they can update their records. Also, because my truck has vinyl graphics on the side that most don't have it is rare (not unique) and worth a lot more? Would anyone like to buy a 2001 Ford Ranger with rare graphics for $40,000? If so, my email is available, please contact me.

You are a scammer and a rip-off artist. Take a look at your own CRK Birth Certificate for the knife. Under the listing of "No." (meaning seriel number) it is marked "Engraved". End of story, case closed, move on.

jeffmorpeth,

Thanks for pulling the auction from the market. This is the high integrity action for your selling reputation, and for the knife community at large.

I do not know the circumstances under which you came to own this GB knife, but if you paid more for it thinking that it was a collectible, I'm truly sorry. As we have discussed before, CRK is willing to exchange your knife for a brand new Green Beret knife. Please contact us at crkinfo@chrisreeve.com if you'd like to proceed in that fashion.

Best regards,

Dave

I find your need to use the dictionary as a shield of sorts is remarkable, your listing appears to be worded in such a way as to bend certain words in your direction.
if you said "this knife has been "engraved" by CRK for the buyer" as apposed to it being a "serialized" knife by CRK" which would entail not only the engraving of the number by CRK but also records of said production run and most probably a signatory card stating the fact of said Serialization.

when an individual/purchaser modifies a product either after the fact or by request to the manufacturer it does not become "unique" or "rare" it becomes a customization of said product.
I see no problem with you stating in your sale that this is a Customized and personalized CRK Knife... using any other words are not only misleading but using your so beloved terms, they aren't being used as the dictionary so states.

I can understand your confusing as to you the idea that CRK would place numbers apon a knife might seem as if it's a serialization... but I must point out that engraving is different from serialization, for the main factor that it is not normally verified or catalogued by said manufacturer.

edit: glad to see a resolution

This guy is pure trash, he thinks that he is so smart to try and get free knives and god knows what else by trying to trick the other party into paying him money. Everyone is against you you so far have brought up 2 separate disputes on this forum over 1 knife, you are trying to commit illegal acts. It is unacceptable.

I don't have anything to do with this, but Jeff seems to have a couple of hidden agendas here. He is taking a a practice of engraving a knife to an extreame with the words that it was a mistake and therefor worth. This is the part that seems wierd, except that he want to stir interest in the bidding to make extra money.
The other thing that got me was one of his comments;
"The only people who are doing a disservice is Chris Reeve Knives for putting knives like this into the public domain for civilians to buy in the first case." Is there something wrong with a fixed blade knife now? Better not let Brady and company hear this. This guy would even make a corner used car dealer look bad. Steven

rather an interesting thread. just been banned from another site as i told one of the mods to urinate away. Having objected to the way CRK was welcomed with suspicion when they posted this same thread and been scolded for it.
thou i do accept i was out of order.

are you talking british blades? They do have a unique outlook on things.:thumbdn:
