An incorrect description in an Ebay auction

So do the members on this forum have a unique outlook on things.

The knife in question was up for sale on this forum for a month stating it was serial numbered and never to be released to the public again.

None of you quick witted souls noticed or took action then did you including Chris Reeve Knives.

Maybe you should try regulating your own forum before you start trying to regulate ebay, and maybe Chris Reeve Knives should stop emailing sellers like myself inviting me to come over to this forum and see their post they made about an item i had listed.

I am not sending this knife to Chris Reeve knives in exchange of another which is purely for their benefit and to get this knife of the market like they have already managed to do with one of the others they claim. This knife is for sale.

Here is the link to the thread i was talking about.

Enjoy your forum.

You paid $725 for that?
WOW, maybe Chris Reeve will sign it for you or something?;)

I do agree that Serial Number Y.C. 003 was a bad way to say that it had a custom engraving of Y.C 003 being number 3 of 4 made with that engraving. The knife's certificate said "engraved" not the serial number of the green beret military model which would be present on a true green beret issue knife. On another note Oppresso CLEARLY said that it was 1 of 4 ever made WITH the Engraving Y.C. 00(1-4) which imho is true, only four were ever made with that, and I believe CR mentioned that they will no longer be offering custom engraving for these knives. The fact that you bought this knife and probably countless others to turn around and sell on ebay to scam amateur knife collectors for $100's just pisses on this rainy parade.

jeffmorpeth/murdoch123, you didn't like being mislead, don't now turn around and do it to others. Post it for sale as exactly what it is, a standard Green Beret that was engraved for the original owner. Don't leave any gray areas. You are going to lose a great deal of money, but it's the right thing to do.

If jeffmorpeth/murdoch123 knew when to stop protesting his innocence, he wouldn't look so guilty.

It is NOT ebay's fault. The saying goes back at least to Roman times: mundus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur. "The world wants to be deceived, so let it be deceived."

You can give the seller the correct information and leave it up to his conscience, but ultimately, it is up to the buyer to be informed before he spends his money, whatever the advertising tries to tell him.

Keith just summed up the answer to your question:
"So do the members on this forum have a unique outlook on things?"

I do not think that being totally up front and honest is unique to the knife community. It is the "norm" rather than a unique exception.

Quite a story... I noticed it is relisted. Better description (engraving instead of serial).

Interesting tag line on the auction however: 'The Real Rambo Knife.

Oh well, I was never good at marketing anyway, I guess I'm too honest...
